Acura NSX to GT - 2014
http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...-works-for-gt/
This was announced a couple of years ago, so a bit of a rehash, but good news... especially when we need it. |

Interesting that SPEED only break this now. Autosport had this exact same story months ago. There's a thread around for it somewhere.
Glad this hasn't gone quiet though and also very happy they are still mentioning Le Mans. |

I wouldn't believe anything coming out about the NSX until you see it in production. How many times have they done this over the last 10 years?
-mike <-- owned 2 NSX's and wish they'd come out with a decent successor. |

Yes, I totally called this back in the gte speculation thread! Of course, there were plenty of people who speculated it pretty heavily but I figured Acura/Honda would really go throu with it.
Depending on the level of manf. Support, this could be the 3rd factory gt rogram in the 2014 grand alms series after corvette and viper. |

This is a little ambiguous because I don't think there are any provisions for Hybrids in GTE in the 2014 rulebook yet. The first platform will obviously be at a GT500 car. then we will have to hold are breaths for GTE. GT500 is the priority however.

They'll have to allow mid engined cars first for the NEW NSX GT500.

It may have been mentioned earlier but I think its planned to simply give Honda an exception to run NSX. Its manufacturer pressure. It would be a huge loss to SGT to lose Honda. Its NSX or the highway for them.

Perhaps MR layouts will be allowed in future GT500. Maybe they'll just run it in GT300 if GT500 goes to the DTM merger.

Again it was hinted that Honda gets the Wildcard with the NSX. In a DTM merger or SGT standalone the NSX will be the exception to the rule. The way Motorsport is today. A sanctioning body does not say no to a manufacturer. They will work with Honda to balance with the rest of the field. Honda does not have any other cars to run. The whole HSV thing is getting old because it still does not exist but is "Production Ready" ....whatever that means...

If that happens we may see MR platforms from other makers, what's special about Honda? This might be true what you're saying, and I've read it before. But, what's going to stop the other makers from doing the same thing? Audi may say they want to use the R8, what would stop them? It has to be an agreement, but that agreement wore with the original NSX.

How many of the other makes Honda, Lexus, Nissan, Audi, BMW, Mercedes have MR platforms.
Just Audi and Honda. Audi have a sporty coupe they can use in the A5 instead of the R8 and thats the optimal solution but Honda simply do not have any other options. Its not setting a precedent but should be seen as subjective ruling. Car makes will just deal with it. Everyone is doing the best they can. I dont really agree with the idea of letting the NSX slide because Honda has a drop dead gorgeous 4 seater in the HSV that is effectively production ready according to SuperGT. Who do I have to call and how many times before they decide to put that HSV into production? The car is so close to production. It even made it to camo runs |

It would be nice if the HSV is released in a limited-production run, but the only thing Honda (or Acura) needs is the NSX.
And BTW, if the ACO opened some regulations regarding hybrids, will some teams like Corvette either complain as usual or forced to put hybrids on their GTE cars? Personally, I think the GTE rules needs to change a bit. |

Corvette complain as usual? What planet are you on?
I'm looking forward to the new NSX in GTE, hybrid or not. |

Whatever that GTE entry might be, hybrid will definitely be unacceptable. Adding KERS into an already outrageously expensive category won't save it and if 'hybrid' is allowed, so should diesel.
------------- Sorry for ignoring the date of the thread. I'd say most of the news about NSX can be found in super GT thread |

They're probably waiting for the new GT regulations to be released.
