http://www.thesennafiles.com/senna/suzuka.html
Nice little link there to the transcript of what was said when Senna accosted irvine after the suzuka GP,Funny stuff! Interesting too.It even looks a little like irvine wasn't just trying to fob him off |

I can't imagine what anyone would complain about. Eddie was being an arse, Ayrton punched him in the head... Problem solved.

Sometimes some people, such as Irvine, need a good punch in the mouth.

Senna only went over to Eddies motorhome in the first place because Berger plied him with schnapps and wound him up. Maybe Senna didn't see anything too bad in it until Berger "baited" him.

mr v: Senna went over straight after he got out of the car... Now, unless Berger put the schnapps in his water bottle, I think you're making it up!!!!

I'm sure I watched it on TV. Something similar to TGF trying to go over to DC after he nearly drove thru him in the rain..
Its a pity we don't have some characters any more. If you watch WSB, you might remember Anthony Gobert peeing into someones lid at any after race party??? Sounded like a good idea when he was p1ssed but got him into a little trouble in the end... |

I don't doubt you. Just thought I'd seen it on TV after the race.
Senna and Berger did appear to have the good times. |

I like Senna so much less after seeing that video clip on the site - what a pompous arse.

Great clip. At least it is worth watching, unlike, er, other drivers talking.

Senna was an arse to be violent and arrogant like that. He had the experience to know much better.

First of all it wasn't immediatly after the race finished, there was a bit of time, Senna had been to the podium etc etc.
Eddie was actually trying to fob him off, he was laughing at how wound up Ayrton was getting. (I know someone who was actually there). Also Lee & F1manoz, Why the remarks about Eddie. As he said he was battling with Hill, he lets Senna past, Senna messes around and doesn't pass Hill, so why should Eddie just hang back and not fight for a place, it was his 1st F1 race and he had the chance to be 1 place further up the finishing order. Why should he settle for a poorer result, he's not Ralf Schumacher you know. Last edited by M Coupe; 29 Jan 2003 at 20:32. |

I've just re-read the script. You have to laugh at Irvine picking his ar$e up of the floor shouting "thats an insurance claim, that is..."
How some things have never changed!!!! He will be missed. |

Good old Ayrton! As others have said, shame Eddie didn't learn anything from it. Senna's self belief is well documented and while his comments look arrogent Eddie was in the wrong. It wasn't because he passed Senna that was the problem, it was the fact that the move was risky and could have taken all three of the drivers out.

Berger and Senna used to play so many jokes on each other that it wouldn't surprise me if he had, shame the characters have nearly disappeared from F1.....

Gerhard Berger is relaxing in the Camel office, enjoying a glass of schnapps with Karl-Heinz Zimmerman, a brilliant Austrian chef with a mischevious sense of humour matched only by Berger's. In walks Senna and it does not take much to persuade him to have a glass of strong refreshment. Being almost teetotal, and having worked hard for close to two hours, the effect of the schnapps is immediate and exaggerated beyond normal bounds. Senna is talking about Irvine's behaviour in the race and, throughout, Berger is agreeing with him. "you should do something about it" says Berger, as he manages to disguise his devilish intent. So, suitably fortified by Karl-Heinz's hospitality, Senna takes Berger's advice Last edited by Mr V; 30 Jan 2003 at 00:35. |

What a legend and my hero. But then I do admire The Swirve too. Maybe he was only number 2 driver but he did have a personality.
Heres hoping Massa will be the next personality. |
