BTCC's got Coupé's, hatches and saloons. I think they're pretty different!
Personally I preferred the BTC-Touring Lexus IS200 and of course love the MG ZS. Maybe just because that was the traditional touring car shape for a while. |

The nicest car was the 406 Coupe. When it came along in 2001, it was revolutionary because the nicest looking car before that was a Ford Mondeo! And that says it all really!!

I think most fans would prefer 4 door sedans. But given a choice between a 8-10 car sedan starting grid and the current 15+ anything goes (hatch/sedan/coupe) starting grid the BTCC/STCC/etc... are having right now, people would choose the latter.
OTOH, the ETCC and TC2000 have a sedan only series and they're managing 15+ car starting grids? I guess it comes down to different countries, different tastes. |

And yet the DTM (in its current iteration) began as coupe only - saloons are now allowed but no-one has entered one - and it ahs healthy grids.

4 door sedans. 2 door coupes are OK, but I don't want to see hatchbacks at the ETCC level.
If it were a matter of a great cost difference between race preparing a 4 door sedan or a hatchback then I could see the point, but there isn't. The reason I prefer 4 doors is the same reason I will likely replace my SVT Contour(ST 200) with a Mazda 6-S instead of an SVT Focus(ST-170)- most sedans look like real cars. That said, if letting hatchbacks in would get Ford and other manufacturers to enter fleets of cars in the ETCC (and STCC or the Danish series) then I would be for it.
