It is not new, but enjoys very little coverage overseas (or nationally, for that matter). There are only 4 events, 8 races in a season.
Never heard of that and their website isn't really up-to-date.

Where can I find a calender for Formula 4 Sudam? And also race reports? Is there a homepage?

Who will drive for the series?

F4 Sudam will start next April 6th, at Mercedes (Uruguay), according to official site. It seems it will be Argentinian, Uruguayan and Brazilian drivers in it.

The French championship is with a slightly different car and you can't race in any other championship. It's as cost-effective as possible.

Not slightly, totally different one. French is Signatech Renault, Italian is Tatuus Fiat. French costs 58k to enter, Italian probably close to 200k

Ah, yeah I forgot they chose the Tatuus. Nothing wrong with the car, but the concept is still the same as Abarth... and I don't see how the Formula 4 name can attract more entries than FDA's support!

Indeed, only real change is the WSK factor as promoter

Looks like Australia will use the Mygale Formula Four chassis as the Confederation of Australian Motor Sports (CAMS) will apparently have a Mygale chassis on display at the Australian F1 GP next week along with a "major announcement" regarding F4 in Australia.

So Ford have been awarded the UK tender and are now in discussions with the MSA. I was just wondering how long these discussions will take and how long is it likely to take before we get an official announcement regarding the regulations and format ( and name!) of the UK series? Forgive me if this all seems very stupid but what are these discussions likely to entail?

Not quite correct

The tender lodged by Ford has been selected to go forward to the negotiation stage.... this does not mean that there has been anything awarded to Ford at this time, all it does mean is that of the tender submissions the Ford one is the one the MSA wish to explore further and so have entered into negotiations during which the MSA and Ford will discuss and agree (or not) the finer details in order to (hopefully) get both parties to an agreement which can then move to a final contract being signed.

Both parties say they are optimistic that the negotiations will result in a positive conclusion.

The new championship will be run in accordance with the new FIA Formula 4 sporting and technical regulations (available from the FIA) - what it will be called and where it will run are all still TBA.

I doubt that there will be two championships called F4, but I rather imagine that there will be two pitching for the same market. Some things never change.

Please read again my comment because it refers to the concept, not the car. The car, we said already, is different.

I don't think Tatuus have even discussed making a scale model for aero testing A bit too expensive for a category named F4 in the modern day of CFD.

Forgive my impatience perhaps but should it be considered surprising we havent heard the conclusion of Ford and MSA Formula 4 talks??? I thought Ford were keen to get the deal sorted to organise 2015.

So by my calculations there will be 6 series running the full FIA F4 regulations in 2015?

Italy, South America, Japan, Australia - Confirmed
Britain, Germany - Rumored

I wonder if the americans will come to the party. F4 could possibly replace both Formula Mazda and F2000 in the 'road to indy' development program.

I think the french car is too different to be considered part of the same framework. Although in time as costs fall they might jump on board as well.

Mods can this thread be merged with the F4 thread on previous page?

Pro FM? That's an F3 level series, why would F4 replace it? F2000 isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future. Andersen hinted at that when I asked him if he was keeping an eye on F4. He's just got the car counts to respectable levels, no sense in bringing in a new, expensive formula.
