You might know it under its former name...Rijeka. Hosted the Yugoslavian Moto GP round in the 80s.

On the subject of FA1, has anybody noticed their website states they have confirmed teams from Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands? Or is this old news? Complete with imagery of how the cars will look (I defy anyone to differentiate the Belgian and German liveries in the blink of an eye!).

I imagine if there was to be speculation on teams involved, all things point to Performance Racing for Sweden and MP for Holland?

In a way I hope this gets off the ground as I used to enjoy the racing and the concept of A1GP in its prime - although I'm yet to be convinced by this latest offering.

True; however, motorsport has moved on since these days (and not necessarily for the better).

In terms of international series, in my view it is only the WTCC (neither Brands or Donington could make it pay); DTM (would rather race in more significant markets) and Formula Renault 3.5 (Renault UK prefers to sponsor the Goodwood Festival) that miss out. I doubt that Formula Acceleration 1 will be termed an important, international series any time soon.

If anyone went to Autosport International, Acceleration were present. at the event they confirmed AccTeam.ESP, AccTeam.GBR and AccTeam.JPN complete with liveries.

I would imagine that somehow Bodelier has managed to sell this toa few tracks and these are paying for the priviliege of having this series at their tracks

The Spanish track,I dont know of it, Croatia same, so they will be surely paying.

He must have funding from somewhere, Lord knows where.

And lets afce it if you are a nudding bike racer wanting to race abroad, it might lok nice, but where are you going to get any notoreity? here or agaionst your peers and team bosses in BSB or WSB or even GP.

The Circuito de Navarra, Spain was completed in June 2010 and held the final round of the 2010 Superleague Formula Season. The track also held rounds of the FIA GT1 World Series.

The Automotodrom Grobnik in Rijeka, Croatia is only really known as a motorcycle track made famous for hosting Yugoslavian rounds of the MotoGP or whatever they used to call it between 1978 and 1990.

The Automotodróm Slovakia Ring and Automotodrom Grobnik are both FIA Grade 3 circuits. The former of the two was downgraded from Grade 2 due to a bump on one of the straights which caused cars to completely flip over on occasions.

I do know of Rijeka, they held GP's there diring the 90's and the safety was appalling, riders were treated like animals and dumped on stretchers etc.

Also was super hot there I recall, was not missed at all when it was left out of the calendar, but this was during Warsaw Pact days and stuff, so maybe no surprise.

Other than that, they do sound like pay tracks that will do anything to get so called big events there, I suppose you have to start somewhere!

Where do you have this from with Team BEL? Read nothing about it on their website...

It was on their Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/AccelerationEvents

There's also a new site, which I assume to be unofficial (?), which although very shabby in design seems to be better updated than acceleration14.com -

http://www.acceleration-online.com/news/index.php/en/

Other news, though not remotely surprising, is that Performance Racing will run the Sweden team.

Agreed - hardly inspires confidence. The amateur fansite (I see that's now confirmed) is better, but suffers from not dating the news posts.

No mention on the official site, but Acceleration's Facebook recently confirmed that GU-Racing will run 3 cars, including the German team.

Vincenzo Castorino announced as Team Italy manager. He seems to be an engineer from MP Motorsport.

David Hasselhoff looks set to headline some of the "entertainment" off-track at the Acceleration events.

Hasselhof? Just when you think you're walking off into the sunset, a lightning bolt may strike you down.

That's very interesting. Perhaps he will also stay at MP in GP2...

From their own statements, Provily Racing is going to run the tech side of team NED. No surprise there as team Provily owner Gerben Provily used to be one of the mechanics in A1GP team Netherlands, so he knows the car quite a bit.

Having said that, half the Dutch autosports world was at the press conference, including people like Bas Koeten and Frans Verschuur.

Reading the AutoGP entry list for this year, and I see no MP Manor there, eventhough AutoGP insists every team from 2013 returned...

I guess canceling the Zandvoort round didn't help there...

I don't know how many cars Coloni have, but FA1 World Series have 18 cars of their own (but that are not the same as in Auto GP because Coloni had developed them), but they are keen to see 26 cars on the grid for owners, who also had cars.
