Well with all due respect, track records are set on race day, not on test days when the car isn't weighed.
But that's not the point. However good Max vs2.0 is he should still prove his worth by actually racing against others before leapfrogging an entire generation to go straight to F3 just because he's got a famous Dad and lot's of backers. I'm sure he's the next Senna, but Ayrton and just about every good driver I've ever seen have proved their credentials through junior formulae first. I don't know of a successful driver who hasn't had some sort of education in something other than a go-kart. The people who should be really angry are the team managers who sell their Formula Ford, Formula Renault drives at considerable cost to parents and supporters who still believe that actually winning in a junior series matters. It obviously doesn't. If I were a Formula Ford/ Renault team principal I'd want to know why the FIA rules allow a seriously rich kid to jump ahead of everyone else. It's not good for business and most of all, it's not sporting. |

He then was picked by Williams for 2000 after a shoot-out with Bruno Janquera (I hope I've spelt his name correctly) and that was the start of his F1 career. Last edited by FFfan; 28 Jan 2014 at 23:02. Reason: Mistake |

Tatiana Calderon won the 2nd race. It's called Winter series, it's testing for them. Some want to win, some want to learn. Last season Marciello was nowhere in New Zealand, came back to Europe and dominated F3 Euro.
Verstappen won't go into F3 because there are testing limits. He can test as much as he wants in Alps or NEC. Verstappen is fantastic, no doubt about it, but may be expectations should be managed. Remember de Vries! Junqueira! |

Repeat ,testing is free in British F3.
If you have the budget or backers you could run in FIA F3 and then selected British events and test test test |

Seems Eddie Cheever III has moved on from single seaters in pursuit of a NASCAR future. He's signed for CAAL Racing for the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series:

- Goddard will be joined by Alex Torill at T-Sport. - Hong Wei Cao will race for Fortec in British and European F3. - Felix Serralles will race with West-Tec. What about Latifi, Mardenborough and King? Looks like Carlin has already 5 drivers.. |

Massive but not completely surprising step for Verstappen then.
Very interested to see how he gets on. |

Effectively, everything under International F3 is now redundant if you want to reach F1 as a driver, The FIA are letting rich kids kill the sport. There is club and national racing for normal people, skip all that and go from a go-kart to International F3 if Daddy can pay. The future of our sport is at stake here and in 5 years or so we'll regret the lack of any proper licensing system, involving a ladder where only the most talented progress. |

a valid point as it is, the licensing system isn't what's going to kill single seater racing though, let's be entirely real here.
