NASCAR wouldn't run there, they have a Texas race only 180 miles up the road in Fort Worth. You'd cannibalize sales from each.

Knowing Tavo it will be the addition of another series and another HUGE draw for the American fan base... ...something like Moto GP. |

NASCAR at a Tilke track? Boring!
Still probably be a better show than an F1 race at a Tilke track. |

Getting F1 to be fan friendly is like asking Osama Bin Laden to have a crack at Christianity.
You stand a chance with streets circuits or even a Montreal where the location actually forces F1 to be close to the fans but not at a normal type circuit, IMO. The teams and organisers themselves are guarded multinational companies that speak through their PR people. It's as much part of the F1 culture as it is part of the human culture to breathe! It is a great region to hold one with fairly easy access to the Latin countries but I'm not sure a 'normal' track will make it viable. It wasn't even viable at Indy. |

To a certain extent they certainly act like multi-nationals and have very good PR.

V8 Supercars to USA!
according to my latest copy of V8XTRA V8 supercars are looking to get a foot in the door in USA so maybe a new track looking for players and a new player looking for a opening might just be the formula Tony Cochrane is looking for. the V8's should appeal.

It seems to me that "Circuit of the AmericaS" is a name that subliminally calls to non-US fans and admits that without the SOUTH Americans and a bunch of Canadians...
...those 150,000 seats are going to look pretty empty. What's next, call the US Grand Prix the "Americas Grand Prix"? I think if Tavo really expects those seats to get filled with folks from the USA, naming it something that calls to them might help. MotoGP, what a joke, how many US fans show up for that at Indy? It sounds like the plan is to keep all three rounds in the US. And hey, until the Balatonring or some other track elsewhere gets it together, we may have FOUR Spanish Moto GPs on the calendar for a while here.
As for attendance at Indy, when you have 350,000 seats, even if 80,000-100,000 show up, how full is the place going to look, really? As for the track name, Jim Hall Int'l Raceway would be nice too, but yeah, A.J. is better known. I'm trying to decide whether Price Cobb is a name that would sound more fitting for a baseball stadium than a racetrack, but whatever, it's not our call, unfortunately. |
