Hey Guy, Great job at VIR last Saturday in a race that probably wasn't the best for your Dunlop tyres. Do you think that Road Atlanta will suit you better like Road America did, and is it ultimately the track temperature that determines how well your tyres will perform? There will undoubtedly be quite a difference between the temperature at the start and at the finish.

It's hard to say, we are all working as hard as possible but I expect our form to be similar, we just have to put our heads down and try any not make any mistakes and be reliable. It's not how we like to race but right now that's our plan.
I know the fans love a good scrap as do the team and I still it's 10 hrs a lot can happen! |

What would you do if as a customer, you got hung out to dry? Do what you can yourself, that's what. Not sit around whilst the Penske RS Spyder gets all the attention and development whilst your still stuck with the same package that Porsche sold to you. It's a damn shame the Guy had to come on here to defend the team from the utter sh*te that's being slung around. |

Thanks Mr. Smith for visiting, and for defending your team, Dyson. They have been stalwarts supporting sports car racing in the US for decades. They have always liked to dig in and "hot rod" their cars. Great team. I admit to being frustrated sometimes in watching Dyson have challenges, but they keep working at it. Great team spirit!

Guys thanks for your positive comments, trust me we get frustrated too and as you can tell we are passionate about racing and want to win, all our partners are working hard to resolve the issues but it takes time.
I'm more than happy to answer questions I just don't like been called 'amateur' |

Won't be suprised if we look back in some years and say the same of Dyson and MM for keeping the top class active. I also add my thanks to Guy for coming to the forum and share his experiences (and sadly also frustrations) with us. |

I'd like to ask Guy, is the hybrid more for peformance or fuel economy and what can we expect of it come Petit?

I saw this video today...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43VpG...feature=relmfu There seems to be a lot of seesawing of the wheel in the corners, was it due to the handling or its just your driving style? Usually when I watch onboards, a smoother driver (i.e. Jenson Button or Rubens) will have minimal corrections on steering input while a more aggressive driver (Hamilton or Kubica) will work the steering wheel. |

See-sawing usually is a sign of fighting or searching for grip so I wouldn't be surprised after the other stories about the Dunlops but I'd say Guy is the best one here to answer that.

I think we were all surprised by the merger news I am sure the team owners new a little more in advance but it was still a shock. I think it's a good idea on the whole and done right could be good. I race Sportscars because they are 'proper' race cars and Prototype cars are the F1 of Sportscars and are challenging to drive. I have raced DP's and while the racing is good they are pretty uninspiring to drive and I can't get excited by them. So even P2 would be better than DP for the top class, but I want wide wings soft tires and 700HP and I am sure as fans that's what you want to see not slow box shaped cars buzzing around? Or am I wrong?
Re the in car oh yes it's busy, busy, busy I do quite a bit of rallying here in the uk in a MK1 ford escort BDA and let's say the practice comes in handy! |

Re the flybrid, it's really more for performance it harvests energy under braking and releases under power, right now it's in a conservative setting while we gather data and get some 'real in car data' as its really only run on the dyno and actually been in car, the heat, G force all play a part but they are getting there.

Nope , not wrong at all , but ..... 700hp , get rid of thet ugly vertical fin , and instead of making the cars look aerodynamically silly , reintroduce ground effects .
Widen the cockpit glass area to give them a more pleasing look too ...... full width rear wing . Whatcha think ? Oh , and I see Jonny Kane might be joining your car for PLM too , excellant choice !!! |

Jonny Kane? That would be DYNAMITE!
Regarding DPs, changes in the engine, aero, and tire rules would help a lot in making them better race cars. The problem is that their rulebook is too restricted. If the powers that be open it up, methinks it would produce just as interesting racing. 2 different philosophies in going fast. |

Glad you do ..... plenty in here dont though !!!
I like variety , meaning open toppers and coupes , but again , plenty in here just want coupe cars , which is a shame as spice is the variety of life , as they say . I remember Andy Wallace wanting more HP too , Im for that as well . Half my problem is that changes are decided by boards of people who are bean counters , they dont actually ever sit in the car and drive it . One excellant one I remember at Le Mans , when they changed the pit exit to just before the Dunlop bridge . How come all the bright sparks on the deciding board never thought of the havoc that could cause ..... like when that Kruse/Shiller Lola went barreling through that area , thank God the drivers saw the issues . Open engine rules also while we're at it! While I personally prefer coupes I don't like the idea of open cars being written out of the rules, variety is indeed the spice of life and it's one thing sportscar racing has in it's favour which personally I think the powers that be shouldn't take for granted. |

The AJR Lotus was pretty impressive in the VIR race. From the commentator it sounds like AJR doesn't have a ton of money for R&D so they are using race weekends to improve things. That car looks nice as well.
