Sprint Format
Yep, this year BTCC will have two sprint race formats. First it will be the Tourers and then the other sprint race for the Production guys. I hope the features will have the Tourers and the Production guys race together.

Well, yes because last year Sprint Format was to have the Tourers go an extra lap while the productions do a lap less. When the Sprint race started, the Tourers go first and then 20 to 30 seconds later the Production guys go. The Tourers had to catch up during the sprint race thus confusing the fans. So this year format that TOCA implement will be two sprint races with Touring going first and then the Production have their own race.

According to the provisional timetable I received last week from TOCA, it only shows 1 sprint race.

I'm 99.9% positive that they're staying with the old version (the 1 race with the Tourers starting first, then the proddies). I happen to like that version. It makes it frantic and fun to listen to.

By running the two classes together, they are reducing the number of Production cars that can get on the grid! I'd rather see seperate Sprint races!

That's true...If there were 2 sprint races we would see more in-car footage of the proddies
 ... That's the stuff I like to see.

2 sprints, 1 sprint, doesn't really bother me as long as they don't use the format where the proddies get a head start, that was a joke i thought

Last I heard was a single sprint but run to a conventional format, i.e. none of that handicap extra lap rubbish

I heard that too red, I think because that was just too confusing for the fans as to who was in the lead.

If they do seperate sprint races either the production sprint won't get shown on the TV or all races will be edited more to fit everything into the programe.

They will have to be in the same race because otherwise the production guys will get little coverage, thus meaning sponsors will pull out and the grids will begin to reduce.
I managed to keep up with the 2001 format so it didn't and I thought it was quite a good idea, I enjoyed seeing the proddies win outright and the way the Tpourers had to fight extra hard. |

I think Reido said it best, the Proddies would get little to no coverage if they had their own race. For the TV directors, it would almost be like a support race.
