regarding "new" drivers rather than learner ones, if they use the new driver plates, they're to avoid. i got stuck behind a girl the other day who had to be about 18 or so, but she was doing 25 through a 50mph zone :/ |

A pet hate of mine is what I call suicide sweep. Driver on the outside line of the motorway, that suddenly and violently sweeps across one or more lanes to reach an exit slip road, getting onto it at the last possible second .... A slip road that has been signed for more than a mile previously, and actually has formed it's own lane for several hundred metres before actually departing the motorway

It has to be the two lorries on a motorway with one trying to overtake the other with a 2mph speed difference.
Just turns into a mobile road block! |

try the girton interchange on the m11/a14. the dual carriageway motorway turns into a 3 lane a-road, and regularly i've sat behind one lorry trying to overtake another lorry overtaking another lorry. which of course, is technically illegal, but when a lane suddenly appears from nowhere alongside the slow lane and you're going the compulsory 2mph faster than the other lorry and another in the magic new lane, i suspect there's not a great deal you can do

People thinking their car is bigger than it really is.
If you are driving a car on a narrow country lane, and you come to a 90° left hand corner, you do not need to swing out onto the wrong side of the road to negotiate the turn. If you are in a 40'' artic, or a truck & trailer, fine, but....... a Mondeo |

Actually I can add a couple more. I've noticed a lot more in the past few years people changing lanes etc with only millimetres to spare from the other car - ie the slightest twitch from the other car and paint is lost / ends in tears.
Another that made my trip to work a bit worse than usual was someone pulled up in a clearway, meaning traffic has to filter past. But it's ok of course, because he's making a delivery! (well actually having a chat when I went past) Of course I realise deliveries need to be made, but do they have to be made in peak hour, and in this case it would have been possible to get the vehicle off the road too, just taken longer |

Shortsighted politicians get my vote this week....in Australia we face the prospect of drought continually...people in the know are now saying if we continue to make electricity the way we currently do, then we risk running out of power due to a lack of water!! (hydro obviously and coal fired generators use lots of cooling water.....all this, in a country with stable geology, and enormous coastine (to priovide cooling water for reactors) and a mountain of uranium (go figure ) |

No we have to sell as much as possible, as quickly as possible, before the price goes up (that's how its supposed to work isn't it?)

One thing that peeves me off, being a Learner? People always assume that because I'm a Learner I'm going to toot along at 30km/h in an 80km/h so they have to get past me. Now, actual Learners that do toot along at 30km/h I can understand, but when I'm speeding up from 50 to 80 doesn't that give them an indication that I am actually confident on the road?

Lights change, and I accelerate up to the 50 limit as quick as I can, leaving this other car for dust. I've never actually seen a drivers' embarrassment reflected in the way his car changed back to the inner lane before or since... |

Grrr! modern technology! hit the wrong button. Where is my chisel and lump of stone?!?
BMW owners - use your mirrors and indicators. You are not Gods on the road. Flat cap brigade; Smokers who chuck fag ends out of the window; Caravanners - please go on holiday to France and not stay in England! Anyone who doesn't drive properly on m-Ways e.g. hogging middle lanes, not overtaking then pulling in; pulling out into the fast lane and then going slower than the middle lane! People who don't leave sufficient braking distances. The stupid brigade who still haven't realised that hands-free kits are cheap! Women who attempt to drive 4x 4's and MPV's. Go and watch them outside any school - beats watching big brother! More funny. ROAD RAGE not necessary; learn to chill out! Why fight and get aireated about things? We don't have the space in the UK, so let the morons have the extra 10ft of road they want. I have just lost a good mate in a crash near Salisbury. Killed by morons driving too fast! Plod have charged some numpty with causing death by Dangerous Driving. In Spain, as Gordon will tell you, the only road rage noticeable is by Brits who live out there. The Spaniards don't worry about it. Manyana !. Big respect to all lorry drivers. At least they know what they are doing. |

You're going to love me, then. A BMW towing a caravan...! Just a hint, though, before you overtake me, make sure there isn't a car in front of me holding me up. The look of surprise when someone forces past, discovers there is another vehicle and that they don't have time to get past that as well, and the Beamer can't/won't stand on the brakes with that shed on the back and their only option is to brake hard and drop back in behind me, is priceless.
Big respect to some lorry drivers. The ones who don't see their sheer size as a weapon for use of bullying. Unfortunately, the huge rise of road haulage means that many of the people who couldn't be trusted with a Micra are now driving 40-tonners and getting the proper professionals a very bad name. |

Agreed Flat Out Farr In Spain the driving standards of a lot of the older ex pats in their 4x4 tonka toys leave a lot to be desired. Most are smashed up on both sides all the time and dont bother to get them repaired. Back last year I had a brand new car that was hit by one within an hour of picking it up !

Anybody that can't judge the width of their vehicle, or follows a bus about a foot behind and can't get round it when it stops, just about anyone who just looks about 10ft in front of them and can't read what's going to happen up the road and aren't conducive to traffic flow. That must make me the best driver in the world then !

My mum was telling me she outdragged a boy racer up one of those passing lanes today, he went to overtake her and apparently his face was a sight when she managed to beat him, her cars a 1.25 Fiesta ! Mind you the other guy was probably in something with similar power.

I get people in BMWs etc passing me then failing to lose me from their mirrors, considering I drive a top-heavy A-Class I think its really funny!
I caught a Lotus Elise up the other day on the A68 and he tried to lose me through a complex of corners but couldn't eventually he waved me past! Racing and driving a front wheel drive car has its advantages! You learn very quickly how the car can handle and stick to the road. Some people's wallet is bigger than their talent! You know who I mean Blair |

i'm a bmw driver who doesn't use indicators. if i used them, you'd know my next move, and that's risky. better i leave you in the dark, and you give me a bit more room to do something stupid
hire cars. wtf. i ended up with a teeny tiny lancia ypsilon thing last week, and spent 8 days having a 3 mile run-up to overtake anything, being stuck with the lorries going up hills, and having my street cred ruined by a cross between a mini and a micra. mind you, the alternative was a fiat panda people who can't regulate their speed on a flat piece of road do my head in too. nothing worse than overtaking and then being passed by the same car 10 times in 10 miles. especially when you know it's not you because you've got cruise control... |
