I'm a big fan of Craig Lowndes. He's tremendously talented, he is great with people, he actually enjoys talking to the fans and he just loves racing.

Ambrose. The guy just oozes raw talent. And I'm not a Ford supporter (nor am I a Holden fan, I support the driver, not the car. Car means nothing to me. I wouldn't care if they drove Datto 180Bs!)

I know that I am going to lose all credability with you guys but I voted Skaife as my favourite driver.
I know he is not neccessarily the most liked guy in the paddock, but as a driver I think he really gets the most out of what he has, is brilliant in qualifying, really knows how to make the car last over a race distance and is very consistant. I would probably say though that as an all round driver/personality Ambrose would be it at the moment. He seems to be a genuinely nice guy with a great attitude and can definitely drive a motor car, and I would say that he more than any other driver is most likely to give Skaife a hard time in the coming years. |

Seton would be my favourite because he has been a great driver for a period of many years. I will never forget his manhandling of the awful Skyline in the rain at Bathurst in 1987. One memory that sticks with me is when watching qualifying for the 1997 SATCC at Lakeside when Glenn would throw the car into a drift before the approach to the Dunlop Bridge and drive through on the throttle. I like his I think a lot of people forget he was champion in 1993/1997 and has been one of the top Ford teams for many years.
Plus, I still own his first race car, the little Ford Escort. CD. |

I think Skaife will go down in the history of the sport in Australia as one of the top 3 or 4 drivers. Regardless of the equipment he has had in recent years, the driver still has to make the most of what he has and Skaife has indoubtedly done this. Apart from '98 when he was a little overshadowed by Lowndes, he been at the top of the tree at HRT every year and lost the title in '99 because of an accident at Adalaide and QR, even though he won more rounds. He is also very good to watch on the in-car shots, probably the most interseting in my opinion. I enjoy watching the intensity behind the wheel and his interesting downchanging technique, which he uses all the time unlike most of the other drivers. The opposite in manner and persona is Ingall. This guy really captured my attention, in touring cars at least, with his outrageous passing moves at Lakeside in'97 and '98. Tough, tough racer and has never had the best car and knows what to do to get the best from himself. When the car can't do it he MAKES it do it. Great media personality for the sport too, kind of like a younger Allan Grice, my favourite from the earlier years. Skaife, the cold, calculating type and Ingall, the bar room brawler.

I don't really have a favourite driver anymore, i just want to see a great race whoever does the best job win.
For many years i was a Dick Johnson fan, when he was in the Sierra's and so on, but nowadays it doesn't really bother me who wins. |

Haha! Nobody voted Richo. Keep it that way? This is a good thread, I like knowing I'm not alone in the world liking Ingall, Ambrose and Lowndes for personality and talent, not like among all my HRT sheep mates.. who like the pretty red car that goes real fast (with that 'skasey' guy that drives it too)...
