You're probably right. Though I am curious if the rules (which we don't know much of yet) will be mandating where engines go. All we know is they are increasing safety with cockpit construction and/or location

Here's something else:
Seeing how the ACO's GT3 series seems to be struggling for entries and ELMS had to turn away P3 teams, would it make more sense to have one prototype only series for P2+P3 and one GT-series for GTE and GT3-cars? |

European LMP1+LMP2+LMP3 Proto Series and LMGTE+GT3+Cup GT Series and you have a deal mister I don't like depleted half-grids for no reason, the cake has already been divided to too many pieces. But at least with that structure of mine you could retain good numbers and integrity in individual series while getting some respectability back with P1.

With a ~10 car GTE (Pro only) grid for LM.

I would love the idea of 45-50 LMPs (even with some LMP3s) at LM, and then the factory LMGTE would be at around that remaining 10-15 slots to fill it up to 60.

Nice to hear some agreeing
I would have the entry allocations go sth like this LMP1 - anyone requesting an entry for any reason with conforming P1 car (unlimited max slots) LMP2 - the system in use now more or less (max number of entries fully depends on the percentage of other class fill-ups) - ALL reserve cars will be LMP2s LMP3 - auto invites for class winners of ELMS, ASLMS, ASLMS Sprint, Road to Le Mans, IMSA (LMPC if needed] (max 5 slots) + one additional voluntary "representative" from each manufacturer (max 5 slots) LMGTE - official factory teams entered for WSC and then possibly their additional oneoff cars (max 10 slots) + "other series" (max 5 slots) - if oversubscribed pre-qualifying shall be held That will total up to 60 cars (unlimited LMP1 + N/A LMP2 + ?-10x LMP3 + ?-15x LMGTE) Last edited by Deleted; 28 Mar 2016 at 17:52. |

(couldn't edit no more so)
In case of theoretical LMP2 shortcoming (hypothetical huge LMP1 influx and maxed out other classes / massive LMP2 demand) the "manufacturer representative" allocation from LMP3 could be cut to 0 by the decision of ACO, and/or LMGTE total max allocation to 12. / fantasy preference mode over Last edited by Deleted; 28 Mar 2016 at 18:16. |

Sportscar/GT (and Le Mans) Rumours
Only 10 GTE? I'd want at least 15-20. I enjoy the GTE battles to the bitter-end, as much as the LMP's.
Am I the only one with that view? |

Nope, I'd rather have GT only with factory prototypes than prototype only with factory GTs!

I'm fine with GT's (20ish) as long as the Am class gets terminated!

Currently 14 in GTE Pro. I did say "~10" so can be more or less depending on applications, but that's about the minimum what is required to have an actual class.
In this fantasy scenario there would be no place for GTE Am. |

Why? Because we shouldn't allow well funded gentleman drivers to fulfill their dreams and be able to compete for wins against similar skilled competitors?
Genius farmer, genius. |

Question-answer: were there no gentlemen before GTE Am? GT1/GT2 era? GTS/GT era? Or pretty much every era before GT Am?

The thing is, ACO and FIA now believes that, based on numerous collapsed GT series, keeping a GT class alive requires a large number of gentleman drivers. Much larger than we have in previous era. So keep moaning as you like, the most pragmatic and realistic way is still trophy for everyone. |
