Where is the ceremony for the F1 Driver's or Constructor's Championship?

Just think about it. In all major sports the winners always get a public ceremony to mark their triumph, especially after a long season.

Football, rugby - you name it, there is a presentation of some kind.

What about the F1 Driver or Constructors - is it just me missing something or is there absolutely nowt?

Shouldn't there be some formal recognition for the no. 1 ace driver of the season and also all those guys and girls hanging over the rails each week. Even if Flav and a few representatives from the team were honoured, plus Ron (2nd) and Todt (3rd !!).

Oh and is there a trophy for either?

For all its showmanship and pazaazzzz - I can't believe F1 doesn't do more on the last day of the season for the triumphant driver and team.

Or do we just miss it on TV?

Any thoughts?

I have to say I agree with you there. There are many hundreds of people who work their ar*ses off all year, a ceremony/party/ball to recognise all the achievers in F1 for that year would be good.

There is a trophy - it's presented at a prizegiving ceremony in Monaco during the winter - along with all the other FIA champions - from drag racing to rallying.

It's a shame the trophies aren't handed out more publically, a ceremony before or after the last race would be suitable.

Oh! Well there you go.

Can't imagine the winners of the Champions league in football would get their trophy at such a closed shop event.

I agree with Silk Cut - I think there would be a lot of value in making this sort of thing public at the track on the last day.

I wonder if the FIA Drag winners turn out in ladies clothes.

At least Anita Mäkelä did it in 2000, as Top Fuel European Champ.

Bernies hair looks suspect as ususal and the bloke in the blue shirt and tie (rather than formal evening dress) must have felt a plank.

How much more public can they get? They have an event, with media, cameras and stuff - it's just not interesting to see someone get a trophy.

But is it all together ?

I think F1 should deserve a separate event.

Bon, not sure - but it looks like he's looking with some interest at the jugs in the middle row. A few other things to note:

- Do Max and Bernie actually have hands
- Who has just fallen off the stage at the rear left
- Is Todt standing in a hole, or is he really that small

Back to seriousness, Gala events are for the rich who get in free.

I totally agree with Bon - F1 is big enough (and flip expensive enough) to have a big public ceremony, IMO at the venue of the final race. Get a masssive podium out one the track and get the teams up - I think it would make ace viewing and honour the guy who mops up the spillages on the pit garage floor a white muslin cloth.
