Thanks chaps. Is it just me, or does the Pre 93 timetable look a bit tight? (Especially if cars from the later races duck into scrutineering early so there is a queue, the time slot already overlaps with scrutineering for two other races). No engines 9.20 to 10.40 so the cars have to be pushed everywhere, scrutineering 9.30 to 10.30, then get kitted up and push the car up to the holding area ready for qualifying at 10.45. Eeek, hope the allocated paddock area isn't too far from the scrutineering bay :-(

Doesn't look too bad to me. Pre93 gets a similar timeframe to all the other racers, and from memory, I can't recall any vehicles ever being driven to Scrutineering - they have always been pushed.

Mebbe I've just been out of it for too long :-( only ever remember pushing the car when scrooting is early (pre 9am or whatever noise curfew) and a longer breather between scrutineering and qualifying. Rose tinted specs I guess :-)

Surely has to be better than being in a superkart with qualifying first thing then a 5 hour wait for our first race

I will probably get there late afternoon, car is already to rumble apart from a damned good clean and polish. For all competitors without the club roundals I will be bringing a big batch down with me and I will also bring some application tools down if anyone wants a hand fitting them on the Saturday or in the break on the Sunday.

Class G pre 93, in answer to an earlier question. I'm pretty local so will drive the race car up Sunday morning, wonder if I'll have to turn the engine off and push it from the main gate if I arrive during church break? :-)

Stupid rule isnt it, my car is really quite and would be usable on the road. In fact I was at a track day once and they let me run but they failed a brand new standard Cerbera.

Don't mind the rule really as it helps keep the neighbours/local authority happy and keeps the circuit running without NIMBY problems, just implementation can lead to some daft situations so there could be a bit of common sense applied by the paddock stewards (or whatever they are called) sometimes. Eg I can drive there and park up no problems, unload the car, but then have to push the car to scrutineering (is it just me or does scrutineering always seem to be uphill?) whilst other cars still arriving are driving past. Looking forward to it anyway, forcast is mixed so with any luck may be a shower or two to keep things lively.

I don't mind the rule but think some commonsense should be applied but unfortunately competitors are probably more to blame as there will always be those that insist on revving the nuts off the thing on the drive to the scrut bay.

I think MArk is refering to this:
Class G Cars not complying with these regulations but built to a similar specification as approved by the CTCRC Committee on an individual vehicle basis including specification of the permitted tyres. Class G cars are not eligible for Championship awards and CTCRC awards but are eligible for BARC awards at each round. But that is for Post Historics and maybe Group 1 not sure as I hav'nt looked but does not appear to be in pre-93, maybe an oversight I really dont know as before my time, to be honest I only recently discovered it existed in the other two championships. |

Yesterday was my first meeting as a spectator for nearly 2 years, and I have to say it was fantastic!! Some great machines out there and a fantastic standard of driving as always.
Shame about the grid sizes for some of the races (especially MX5s) but you all made up for it with some really entertaining racing. Al - sorry to see things didn't go quite to plan for you! |
