Anyone know what happened to the Bilbao race? Their site has not been updated since results of this years.

I am not sure about this, but I think there will not be a race in Bilbao anymore because there were elections for the local government, and the new guys in charge decided to cancel it.

This year there were already flyers, and posters on the streets and in some windows with "No More Racing!" type of messages.

It is a shame. It was definitely one of the high points of the season!

Sad news .I was there-a great experience.Looks like I will not be seeing any Renault racing next year.None of the scheduled venues are worth a visit bar Monaco, and thats too expensive!

Maybe it was good in person, but it *looked* crap

Such a horrible layout.

Most of the drivers I spoke to hated it. Not interesting in the way of racing, horrible facilities, but most important, way too bumpy, to the point of being dangerous. Had to cancel some of the Megane events due to the accidents they were having. I am sure it looked great, but in the end I think it's no great loss, especially from the safety point of view.

Glad to see it go; it was a safety nightmare.

Bilbao

It was a cool track to drive (on your own), but when there were other cars around it was really too dangerous. All the bumps in the "straights" and the walls that were not following a single pattern were too risky.

After the first test we were all sure that the start had to me with safety car, and not stopped. Otherwise, everyone back from row 3 would be in the walls before corner two (the slow left hander before going up).

Some new tracks, wich is nice. Maybe they could find something better then Misano, don't know how they ended up there.

According last version there is only one race in Monaco, but two in Spa.
Misano is 4Km (not shorter than Valencia or Hockenheim) and it is indeed on the sea side (neighborhood of Rimini): the aim of Renault is to have as many spectators on track as posible, and there in the middle of July they will succeed.....

Wasn't Pons under financial trouble?

Pons seems to be indeed in trouble since they also are about to stop motorbyke racing that used to be the main program; it is already confirmed that FR 2.0 is over.

To which period of Cram do you refer? In my opinion they always made a reasonable good job and when they had really good drivers they were always in the top three if not winning...(Bernoldi, Massa and Farfus, Quintarelli, Lopez and of course Hanley) of whatever championship except for the one season they made german F3.

In this past season they were OK Salignon that I consider a very good driver was quite inconsistant....

Stop&Go.tv reported times ago that Cram reinforced their engineering staff.

Funny to think that his race car team is taking preference over his big love of the bikes!

Perhaps WSR team will be ended too and another reserve outfit will come in? i'd like to see Dick Bennetts run a team as rumoured late last year?

I'd guess if the Pons team did close, then GP Racing would have first option on the series entry, followed by Euronova. It was them along with Prema who were beaten by Comtec to the vacant slot. But they may be too far ahead with plans for F3000 Italia to want it now?

It seems they have jumped the gun (blaming the Spanish F3 site) - Interwetten have not yet signed any drivers. It sounds like Iaconelli is 90% sure, while Soucek is only in negotiation.

If I were Soucek I would try a seat with Pons. Isn't him the current Spanish F3 champion?

Sure, but no one in Spain will touch him due to his troubles with past teams...I think his only chance is with a team that do not know about it. Regardless if he is champion or not. Pons is too intelligent to let him join the team since I am sure he is aware about his troubles.

Ok now he's got a definite drive, can we finally confirm if Renault are still paying for Maldonado?

From the announcement sounds like the money is coming from his own country, but if Renault is still involved, I believe they've choosen a very decent drive for Pastor now.
