No, don't worry! The post from superroo73 basically says Mr Molnar has disposed of some bits and pieces which were not recycable. But he did get rid of the whole chassis from the space-frame car, apparently it was in such a bad condition

Hi there.
I reply to Kurtiejjj from a few months ago 3 Dog Garage owns two Zakspeed Mustangs http://www.3dog.org/late_race.htm
In 2006 Clasic Ford did a article on the recently restored Zakspeed Capri and it said that they were in the process of restoring a Zakspeed Mk2 Escort which car is this?
Also in Classic Ford it was noted that Norm Murdock from Team Blitz owns a turbo BDA from the Zakspeed Mustang and a GAA V6.

Da Meanace, absolutely stunning find! This was the last and missing piece for my Zakspeed Capri article!I will email the 3 dog garage, to try and find out the cars' chassis numbers. I am quite sure at least one of the two Mustangs is a Zakspeed Capri in drag!

Is there any other news??

Hi ae86!
What i know is that there is no Homologation form spezially for the axle.
Only the type of the axle must be the same! Material and fixing is free.
The alloy axly first time was built in the Escort for the Norisring-race at the 3.July 1977.

Group 5 Silhouette cars newer had specific homologation forms since they had to be accepted into Groups 1-4 to be allowed. As I understand it Zakspeed could have shown up with a Group 1 homologation form #5586 for an Escort 1.6, a Group 2 #1605 RS1800 or the Group 4 #650 RS1800. It was their choice and from then on it was a matter of reading and interpretading the Group 5 rules to build the best car possible.

This is a pic of an Escort running at Wanneroo Park in WA, Australia in 1981.
Do you think this is a genuine Zakspeed Escort and if so what is its history?

This is the Ian Grey car. Ian also competed in Asia. I think earlier in the thread there is reference to Ian's car. I'm sure it was the real deal.

The car on jd yort's pic must be Gary's car. Interesting that the car still seems to have its 'Mampe' stripes when it was in Australia.

Hi,

These photos from Aussie are interesting. I have info that Ian Gray was one of the drivers of my car, so I am sure this will be my car. Jd, if its my car then it is the real deal.

Cheers.

I only thought it may not have been the real deal on the basis that I have never seen any articles about it from when it was racing here in Oz.

For such an exotic purpose built race car I would have thought there would be more photos etc floating around.

How long did it race on Australia Zakspeed65 was it only under the one driver?

Hi Jd,

I am not sure of anything more than Ian Gray was mentioned as a driver of my car. I am not sure if that was in Aussie of in Asia somewhere. I do know that 1 possibly 2 cars were built in Hong Kong, that were not Zakspeed cars but did look very close to the Gp 2 specs, I think 1 one of these cars is somewhere in Perth. Not 100% sure of this.

Cheers,

Gary.

Hi All,

Driftwood, you are correct a swedish guy who lived in KL did own my car and he had fitted a BDM 1600 injected engine to compete in class 2 for the East Asia Super car Championship. After he sold the car some locals in Malaysia fitted a rotary engine. I purchased it in 2002 and sent it in NZ.
