I wonder what is going on with Level 5 and HPD.
HPD top brass thought the Odyssey was a GT car and knew it could be competitive against the other GT engines out there. Everything about the OEM Honda V6 is not GT, what were they thinking? It even makes the ARX look like a bag of cr@p, and that's a hard thing to do.

Level5 is the one that's probably most embarrassed, they're the one that got stung by the Odyssey GT thing. I guess they could switch out for a BMW engine???? BMW being on pole showing what a real GT engine can do.

The thing is the ACO has to assume that every "GT" engine is going to be roughly "state of the art" for a GT engine, competitive efficiency, weight, structure etc... But when you bring a Mini Van engine to the party (thinking knives and guns etc...) the formula just doesnt work. So instead of the heaping critisism on the ACO, Level 5 and HPD should look inwardly, perhaps.

I don't think the origin of the engine is an issue, humble four and six cylinder engines have been developed into some of the most potent sportscar, F1 and rally engines of all time.

Spa will tell us everything we need to know, Sebring is a unique track were set-up and track knowledge go a long way to being competitve, something none of the P2 runners had, Paul Ricard was missing a number of top teams while Long Beach is a street circuit.

Let's see what the HPD's do against the ORECA-Nissans and how Level 5's Lola-HPD stacks up against both.

But the point is those "humble" engines were pitted against other humble engines. In otherwords al the same " state of the art". But real world GT engines have evolved far beyond humble units. There ability to convert energy is beyond the limits of the humble mass transport car. Even putting a blower on spear cover that inherent lack of effeciency. A Porsche GT has a huge bore with monster valves, I doubt that what the Honda has.

Once race modifications are applied small turbo engines can compete with even the best GT engines.

Without restrictors it's said the HPD can deliver 900bhp.

Just when things couldn't get any weirder, Level Five has now withdrew the No. 55 with Luis Diaz and will run the 33 coupe for two stints of 20 laps, in order to score points, and then park the car.

I assume the reason why the open top car is being withdrawn is so Scott Tucker (and Bouchut) can get first place points. It's a shame that Diaz won't be allowed to compete for the championship considering he is leading it now, but I guess the pro-Tucker rules are in the contract.

Level 5 sucks just because of how they compete for points. I mean it.

They've just handed over to Hindy and Shaw.

I'm glad Tucker has run cars in the series, but I haven't been terribly impressed with him specifically since the crash at Road America last year.

Boy, imagine both LMP1 hitting trouble and a LMPC car wins the race... could things get more embarassing for the ALMS?

Watching on ALMS.com here. Introduction was smooth for 10 minutes, then it turned into a slideshow. Is it just me or anyone else?

This is the biggest problem with ALMS races. They need to figure out how to cut down on the caution times. People start to leave the track or change the channel by the time the yellow is over!
