NZSTfan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Woah that sounds like a nasty accident...I hope Haydn makes a full recovery soon.

Intersting tidbits there promax about the inclusion of toyota for next year. Maybe the NZV8's will be the first to get another manufacturer on track (even before the supercars)

Time will tell i geuss

The question of the engine remains though, will any development be funded purely by privateers? Will the McKenzies sell their FG body panels or will they sell the entire car and buy a new frame? Will it even happen? It's only 6 months until the start of the 2012/13 season which wouldn't seem like a lot of time to get an engine and body package developed (particularly since a broken leg tends to take 6 months to heal properly so Haydn won't be jumping in the car any time soon).

Maybe Toyota will let them use their old F1 wind tunnel facility in Japan...

The media can get a bit carried away, can't they? So I can just rock up next season in my new McLaren MP4-12C-GT3 or Skyline R35 GTR...

"any make of car is eligible" is a bit different from "any model of car is eligible"

No the earlier one was a press release from McKenzie so it wasn't speculation, I was just chuckling at the wording.

Is a Camry body the same size as a Falcon? I'd be surprised if there wasn't some serious stretching to be done there!

There is about 14 or 15 cm difference between a camry and an FG Falcon. I think that wouldn't make that much streching.

They can reduce the length anyway by using the techniques the COTF and V8ST and V8SC currently use to fit body panels. For e.g the VE2 is shortened by some 80 or 90 mm i think and the FG by some 100mm. They do this by shortening the the length of the rear door essentially.

So its entirely possible that a camry would fit.

She's not a looker though....even the new ones

I've gotta say that the Japanese (and especially Toyota and Mitsi) do not make especially good looking cars. The Koreans, on the other hand, are churning out lookers left, right and centre!

you can see in that shot quite clearly the cut lines in the rear door where the body is shortened by 90 or so mm (or whatever it is these days)
