Mallory Park Training 27th January 2008
Thanks to all those who organised the day. I had a great time and had a lot of fun. For once the weather was good (if a bit chilly) and I learnt loads.
Loved waving the extinguishers around! I do have some pics and a few short movies of the fire training if anyone is interested? They are pretty rubbish quality but hey ho. I did try and workout how to post the pics but drew a blank on that score. If anybody wants some copies drop me a message. I don't log in often so it might be a wait until I reply. Tony |

All at Mallory (especially Clive)
Thanks for making me feel very welcome on your training day. Coming from North west (and not being able to make the oulton training weekend) and not knowing anyone was very daunting. Can't wait to get on with the season now. I agree the firefighting and righting the car definately great fun and very important to know. Dave |

Don't tell me that Elf and Safety are now insisting on hard hats for rescue crew! Is it in case the sky falls on them?

I personally think that helmets for rescue crew should be mandatory.
The Ambulance & Fire Services' have to wear then at the scene of an RTC! I think the Japanese Track Marshals also wear them........and they look really....cute! :-) |

c'mon Mark, I realise that hard hat/helmets have a place where things might be dropped on you - but at a race track? When you're dealing with a car at ground level?
It's a world gone mad ....................... |

As member of Mike's crew, I do find the helmets rather cumbersome to wear, but they do have their uses, the car maybe at ground level, but could well be in a precarious position, with all sorts of crumpled bits of metal sticking out at you, particularly when your trying to cut the roof off! They also protect you from stray bits of glass that can be flying around, and are much easier to see out of than some of the safety glasses provided. It looks as if they may become mandatoy in the near future, so like them or not they are here to stay.
As for the caption competition - " you're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" - Michael Caine |
