Ive been looking through f1 pictures and have found some hideous looking cars such as the 1976 ligier, or 1979 alfa, 1995 mclaren and 1979 arrows.
but what are your worst looking cars of all time (liveries inc.)

Actually, I rather like the Ligier JS5. It's distinctive.

My pet hate is the Eifelland March 721, with an extraordinary forward facing fairing making a sort of cliff-face in front of the cockpit. Anyone got a web-based photo of it?

1995 McLaren - one of the most sinfully ugly cars ever made.
1980 Ferrari T5 - The T4 was lovely, but the T5 was hideous and I can't figure out why.
1996 Ferrari - the original Barnard car wasn't pretty, but the update was ghastly.

The 1995 McLaren was pretty compared to the 1996 Ferrari (both versions). Infact, its better than any Ferrari.

Very ugly cars!!!!!

I still say the 1995 McLaren was a nive looking car. A McLaren is never ugly, it may have been a ***** to handle, but it was noy ugly.

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing
Volvo 240 series, no question; the later the model, the uglier it got. I had the last one (1986) model when I was in Hong Kong. Great car, it had those massive bumpers mounted on springs and shock absorbers, and I used to park it by thumping the bumper into the wall - which then told me I was against the wall. The Swedes had a wonderful attitude about their Volvos: "you can't see the styling from inside the car".

Liked 'em.

I also liked the March 711's, wierd but cool. The Eifelland was bizarre and terribley uncompetitive. ( the name of the designed of this re-bodied March escapes me.)

The original Ensign F1 gets my ugly vote.

I'd say the Williams in 98-99 when they had that oh so ugly red Winfield livery... The Rothmans Blue Livery before was awesome I don't know what they were thinking.
Also the Jordans and the Early Bennettons this year with their V Front Wing attachments are damn ugly i think....

First of all, that 95 mclaren looks pretty good to me, i don't know what the fuss is all about. For ugliness, those ones that Bononi had were absolutely shocking! especially that march 71!!! yucky!!! but as one of you said, the 1996 Ferrari was one of the ugliest modern cars i think.

The '76 Ligier is by far the most awful of those depicted so far. The racing man's equivalent of the Multipla.

I actually liked the tea tray front wings.

Isn't that much of the problem with F1 cars these days? The desire to maximise performance within the rules means that everyone has a car which looks essentially the same?

Bravo to those designers who are prepared to try something different. (Colin Chapman - where are you now that we need you.....!!)

Here's some more nominations:
Ensign 1979, worst front end ever;
Shadow 1975, managed to combine a bad front end with a stupid airbox:

As an UOP Shadow fan, I must disagree !!!

The design was pretty much according to those days specs and development...

Number Juan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
i think the reason why people hate the 95 mclaren was the stupidly wide nose they gave it when "NIGE" drove it

the 96 ferrari was definately the worst looking car ive seen in my short years of watching f1!!! the 99' arrows was pretty awful in my view...
