ForumNick should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Yes a-la cyclists on the track! It works quite well when the leader 'pulls over' & then joins the back of the pack.

It's not so good when the leader (of a 6 rig convoy) calls the tail-ender through, to 'leap-frog' the convoy on the Hay Plain!!

(We were on the way to the Adelaide F1GP in '87, cruising at about 120kph in the very early hours and had a 'tail-end charlie' coming head-on at us. Luckily we had a CB & had heard the 'call through' & so knew what was going on!!! - otherwise???)

Wonder when the promoter is going to release the final entry list, 5 weeks to go!

Read somewhere that entries don't officially close until the 20/01, so I'd imagine it won't be until sometime after that.

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Im doubtful even that it will be official on that date, i would imagine there will be a number of changes up to the date of the race, although mainly in the driver area

Agreed. I really don't expect there to be any more entries than what has already been listed. The official entry list probably won't be posted until a couple of weeks before the event.

According to the official entry form closing date was 23rd December.
Can understand som sorting out of driving teams, but I would have thought that at least we could have expected a list of cars and entrants.
If they are taking late entries, or some entries are conditional, why not put that up on the website?

You're right. Not sure where I read the extended date but I assume the promoter was giving teams as much time to enter as possible.

The website still has TBA under the entry list but there is an entry list of sorts on the 24hr Series website:

http://www.12hbathurst.com/?page=557

Not sure why they couldn't post a provisional entry list on the B12hr website?

entry list

i think we need to remember that this is a one off race, it is not a multi million dollar business and as a result does not have permamnent staff to concentrate solely on making sure that there web site is up to date over the Christmas break.

information will come, but there is not really a need to have it one month before the race

May not be a "multi million dollar business" but it doesn't take much to update a website. I think there is a need to keep it as up to date as possible, so that potential spectators can decide whether or not it's worth attending. Ultimately it'll be a combination of competitors and spectators that determine the sucess and longevity of the event.

sure it does, you have to have someone who is interested in spending their time updating a website and knows how to do it.

If you know someone who is happy to volunteer their time to do this, you should get them to contact the 12 hour promoters, I am sure they would really appreciate this.

Otherwise it costs money and as money is limited because the field is small and the costs are high, and regular updates of the website are not the priority

Agree 100% and for how much longer are we going to hear about the Christmas break excuse.
When you sign off on a February date, surely these things should be taken into consideration when keeping the paying punters happy and helping to ensure that this event grows.
It appears to me as if the entries have dried up after an encouraging start and they are just hoping that something eventuates that makes it worth throwing at us through their site.

I wonder if they are still trying to gather entries after the dubai 24hr race. Abu Dhabi has a race this week doesnt it? That could also be a factor.

Still 5 weeks out, it would be good to see a final entry list announced. Especially when the official closing date for entries was nearly a month ago now.

Personally I'd rather they take as long as they need to release a final entry list. The longer this takes hopefully the more likely we'll have a few more cars announced

Hmm, seem to remember peckstar posting a link that lists a provisional entry list of cars/teams entered so far, could it be, even on this page

Seems to be the way Creventic works. Radio Le Mans was saying last week in Dubai that the final entry list wasn't set till the opening morning of practice.
Still can't see too many extra entries showing up.
The Production Cars will have a few long distance events of their own like the Phillip Island 6 hour so I would imagine a lot of those guys will want to save their $$$ for that.
I must admit that my enthusiasm for the event has waned somewhat, hopefully things will pick up closer to the race.

^^ I really don't understand this...

There are around 30 entries confirmed, of which there are a couple of Mercedes SLS, a couple of Ferraris, a couple of Lamborghini's, a couple of Audi's, a Mosler, a Corvette, Porsches and handful of prod cars.

How can you not get excited?

I'm very much looking forward to it, much like I was when I ventured down for the inaugural B24hr event.

In this format I believe it has the potential to become one of Australias premiere races, and I hope it continues to grow from year to year. I just hope the promoters put on a good show and can convince more overseas and local teams to enter in following years.

I'd laugh if the Hyundai GT3 car that has been proposed got to the 12 Hours before V8s got one to the 1000km...

Race is going to be mega. At the moment 18 proper GT cars a dozen proper production/other racers...some big names. Great track. What's not to look forward to?
