But Graham Rahal's grandfather was born in Lebanon and then emigrated to the USA. Most sports allow for a grandparent to be used in determining nationality, so why should A1GP be any different? Also, most individual's family trees features some emigration, so finding someone who can claim to have heritage from one country only could be difficult. When considering countries such as Lebanon which don't have much motorsport heritage it is perhaps not surprising that they are tempted to recruit drivers who are qualified to drive through ancestory.

Ralph Firman Jnr's mother is Irish, so if you accept that Firman should drive for Great Britian, he has an equal claim to drive for Ireland.

If you don't belive that bobby rahal is from lebanon check this http://www.downtownbeirut.com/FamousLebanese2.html
Anyway, Even in football they give nationalities to players so they can play with the national team but a player can't play only for one team.
