Haven't ironed out all the bugs yet, but I was thinking of just the first event

Nope. It's great as it is.

Fast, exciting and old school. Next you'll be asking for tarmac run-off!

Re-paving will remove a part of the challenge. The grass is perilously bympy and overgrown and therefore good.

tl, chicanes are sacriligious. I hope that was a joke.

Tarmac runoff is for pussies. If any 'catchpens' are needed, use boulder pits. That's right, not gravel, boulder.

Bear in mind the layout hasn't changed since 67, it would be sacreligious to change it! Keep it how it is, it's a great track

Although the circuit layout hasn't changed, there have been changes to the circuit especially at the chicane.

I agree, it doesn't need changing, it needs tidying-up!

Also WHY is the tarmac RED?

If the were to develop the Thruxton track any further, I would like to see them put spectator areas at the back of the circuit, though they would all have to be on the inside part of the track, and may or may not interfere with the airport bits. Its probably an impossible thing to ask for, but its a shame not being able to witness all the high speed stuff up close as a spectator. The only real high speed area that people can view at is just after Allard on the run up to Campbell.

That's a good point, it would be great if they could put some spectating areas on the outside near Goodwood and Church; I had my first race at Thruxton this year and Church is a hell of a corner.

I'm sorry but I just had to post something.
I watched the important bits of Sunday's BTCC finale on the telly and laughed out loud for an unusually long period of time when Plato lost the championship in round 29.
His performance in race 3 at Thruxton reminded me so much of why Vauxhall refused to retain his services in 2002, turning down a 'number 1' on the doors of their car in favour of a less **** ish driver.
I have seen a lot of renewed Plato fever over the last couple of years but he is still a transparent oaf who will resort to devious tactics and dangerous driving when it suits his cause.
His false political correctness and professional behaviour when he is anywhere near a microphone or camera, don't fool me.
Anyone who knows me, will know I am far from being a Matt Neal fan but I can fully understand Matt's motivation for what he did on Sunday.
I'm still laughing.
Congratulations to Fabrizio and 888.
Woohoo, Sandown,Bathurst and BTCC champs.
Carry on.
Dave

Plato-Neal feud re-ignited
Jason Plato has slammed Matt Neal’s actions in Sunday’s Dunlop British Touring Car Championship’s title-deciding final round at Thruxton, but Team Halfords’ outgoing champion has responded saying a fault with his car affected his driving.

Neal appeared to put up little resistance against Plato’s title rival Fabrizio Giovanardi and Vauxhall team-mate Tom Chilton as they both swept past him in the opening laps.

But when Plato tried to overtake Neal’s Team Halfords Honda there was suddenly a much sterner defence, this costing the SEAT driver valuable ground to Giovanardi who went on to win the title.

Talking to radio show Tin Top Tuesday, Plato said he believed Neal’s actions to have been deliberate. He told listeners: “I’m incensed for one reason. I take criticism for being aggressive, but every time I’m in a racing car I give 110 per cent and drive forward. That’s what the fabric of a racing driver should be, even if we’ve only got three wheels left on our wagon.

“What Matt did was disgusting. I think it goes against what racing drivers are. His race pace suggests he was the quickest bloke out there so for him to toss away third in the championship with the intent of just screwing me up was deplorable. That’s why I dislike him.”

Plato said he believed that Neal’s actions would turn people against him in the long run.

He added: “It’s a debate that has got everyone’s heckles right up in the air. I’m pleased he’s done it because his true colours have come out. He doesn’t race with the style, passion and the heart that people should do.”

But Neal, who is joining Vauxhall for 2008, said a malfunction with his Honda meant he was left with no choice but to let Giovanardi and Chilton through while he figured out how to drive around the problem.

Neal said: “I wanted to keep it clean because there was a title fight going on. A lot more goes on than my personal opinion and Jason’s opinion of me. I do what I’m told. Fabrizio, I let him go. I wasn’t happy. Tom I was not going to let go at all. But my gear lever had broken. I sensed that Tom and Jason were going to do me. My car was cutting out down straights.

“I was worried Tom was going to run into the back of me so he came past. But then I figured how to drive the car with this problem. I wanted to get Tom back! I wanted a podium. I fought for every place I could.”
Uhhh, interesting.

So Jason Plato tries yet another opportunity to appear politically correct and holier than thou, and Matt Neal attempts to play down any talk of feuds and avoids making comments that question the integrity of other drivers.

So somehow the Vauxhall team knew that a rival team had a specific problem that would result in said car 'not attacking' their driver as a previous poster pointed out.

He really is insulting not only the class but its fans/viewers with this bulsh*t...

There'll be a big orange coloured (or maybe it will be next years green/red model) JCB along in a minute to help dig that hole!!
