Craftsman Trucks on FOXTEL?

What are the chances that FOXTEL will pick up on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series now that there is an Australian in the mix?

I hope so, the few highlight pieces I've seen, the Trucks are every bit as good as Busch series.

The FOXTEL people must be aware of the Trucks as I've heard that the NASCAR is one of the top 5 viewing numbers on FOXSPORTS.

How do I get a lobby group going?

ESPN showed the trucks in 2002 on Foxtel, and presumebly earlier when ESPN was a part of OptusVision. In 2003 the US rights went to the Speed Channel, and we haven't seen it since.

I don't like Ambrose, and I am happy to see him out of V8SC, but he is an Aussie, so yeah, I would like the opportunity to watch him do his thing.... if he isn't taking out Holden's I might not hate him as much when he comes back....

received an email from austar (country foxtel) regarding it today

it read as follows
We are unable to guarantee any programming rights at this stage regarding '
NASCAR Craftman truck series' .

There are many negotiations, agreements and regulations to abide by before
rights can be determined for a particular sporting event.Â Australian
anti-syphoning laws ensure all Australians have access to televised
sporting events.Â Under these laws, any sporting event involving an
Australian Team is offered for broadcast by Free To Air channels first.
These networks can choose exclusive rights, giving them live exclusivity
for the event, or replay rights, in which they may share the rights with
other TV providers such as AUSTAR.

If no Free To Air networks choose to acquire a particular sporting event,
it then becomes available to be shown exclusively by subscription TV
providers and sometimes this is not known until the very last moment.

We hope that our channel providers will be able to provide this next year
and because at this stage we are not aware of whether they have the rights,
we recommend that you view the following sports channel links to keep up to
date:

Email Foxsports with your requests / questions. Get your friends to do the same. Sometimes works better than a lobby group. Make the emails different and get as many friends to email them, email them from your home email and work email. Many emails works better than one with a heap of names on it (petition style). Send your emails to various email addresses at Fox / Austar etc.
If you don't try you'll never know.

As for the resposne from Austar it indicated they do listen and reply, although I do question the part about it being an Australian Team!!! Perhaps you could even send them articles from motorsport journals informing them what M.A is up to.

Worth a try don't you think? Only problem is now how to watch all the motorsport on TV / Fox and keep a marriage going.......or keep the wife happy.....!!!!

If Speed Channel has the rights to the truck series, why not petition to Foxtel/Austar to get the whole Speed Channel as part of the sports package on Digital. There are any number of empty channels on there at the moment, and a 24hr motor-racing dedicated sports channel is just what we need!

Fox Sports can run Australian races over the top of some boring American Series, and we can see the NASCAR, Champ Cars etc all live (all be it at the early hours of the morning)

I've said over in the other thread I have heard rumours of a MotorSport (FoxSports 3) in 07 running Friday through Monday if you can remember how the NRL channel ran thats how it will be ..on an existing channel like Fashion Tv (poor mans pron) or the like.

The way to deal with wife's/girlfriends is get a second box.

btw can anyone else fill up their epg 1 week ahead with motor sport shows or is it just me??

There would be many punter wanting to watch Ambrose in the truck series and C10 will know that so perhaps its worth happering them?

Lets be realistic here, if Ch10 doesn't show Nascar at the present time then why would they show the trucks - simple, the ratings wouldn't justify the cost involved in having the TV rights - Ambrose or no Ambrose. Why would FTA get first choice anyway, it's not an Australian team competing, only an Australian driver.

If we want to see the trucks we (the viewer) will have to pay for it - ie. Pay TV Foxtel.

Now if Ambrose starts winning and goes to Nascar Nextel Cup and starts winning there,mmmmmm, maybe on FTA, but again only if they can justify the cost. Yes, it would be ideal but I don't think it's realistic at this present time.

Spud - I think the best you will see on Ten is updates on RPM as Head Rev says it probably will come to Cable if they can get the Pacific rights.

I doubt that we will see it live but a same week replay would be ok.

Ch10 doesn't show too much live to air TV. The Moto GP's, V8's, CART, A1GP, F1, etc are all delayed sometimes for weeks.

What makes you think the Truck series will be any different if Channel Seriously decided to take on the rights.

Most of those you have mentioned are on within 24 hours and usally less. the only one that isn't is A1GP which is just new and unproven and ch 10 do not have the live rights too it anyway

Adam Clarke was the last aussie to race in NASCAR, and it happened to be a few races in a Craftsman truck. It was a factory Dodge truck with a bit of support of Richard Petty Driving Experience
