There are some really long term fans here, if you average it out a 4 days per visit for me that means i have spent over 4 months living in a tent next to a race track in the middle of france

Looks like this won't be my 2nd, guys. Lots of money to fly out to France from the U.S. and a complicated storyline behind that which I wouldn't want to bore you with. Anyways, things are looking pretty unlikely for this year.

Maybe 2015...

Think it's my 26th this year (assuming I can pull of a Houdini act just before my wedding!).

Le Mans attendances:
1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991,
1993, 1994, 1995,
1997, 1998, *
2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013

Not bad for a 35 year old!

* Don't recall why I would have missed 1999 - but can't find any record of me being there despite it being a memorable race! ... lol.

Sadly I haven't been able to arrange a trip this year (was going to be a mini stag do), mainly due to my best man forgetting he had a two week trip booked with his wife and kids...

However I will be visiting some of my fiances relatives in France (she is half French) and staying in Le Mans on the 26th May. I appreciate that its the week before test day etc but are there any bits that I would be a fool to miss, we have a car and are planning to spend the day there.

Any restaurant tips for the evening would be great as well :-)

Next year I'm hoping to make it to the great race!!

As Simon says, the museum is well worth a look. You can also drive round a decent amount of the track, and doing so outside of race week is always more pleasurable - in that the run down to Indianapolis/Arnage is open (and spectacular in the it reminds you how narrow and windy the track is there) and the run to Mulsanne can be done without having to worry about vast hordes spilling into the carriageway.
