Do I understand well, you have a photo from Staechelin's car at Bordeaux???
Staechelin entered a Ferrari monoposto occasionally in 1951, don't know whether this was his own car entered under Espadon banner, or really Espadon (Fischer) property, but believe the first. We are not sure, but probably this was the 1949 F1 125C # 12C, which has been sold by the SF around end 1950 / early 1951, eventually together with an interchangeable F2 166 engine. Reason for this theory is the SOHC single supercharger 125 engine which is owned by the Schlumpf collection and numbered "12C", and which is reported to come from Staechelin. The Espadon 212 and 500 cars are also in the Schlumpf collection, so possible the engine came together with the cars from Espadon. Obviously the Staechelin car finally was used only as F2, making the F1 engine absolete, have no idea where the car + 166 engine went after Staechelin. Know 12C quite well, a photo would allow me to identify it. |
