Rebaque
I always considered Hector Rebaque the first Pedro Dinz. He seemed ok at times, but not one of the all time greats.
My question is this: Did Hector or did he not build his own car? I have heard of a Rebaque Cosworth but the pics I have seen make it look like another Lotus 79. If so, where did the Lotus 79 and Rebaque differ? |

The Rebaque HR100 was built by Penske at Poole under the supervision of Geoff Ferris. Hector had run both a Lotus 78 and a 79, but when development on those stopped and the spares situation became precarious he decided to build his own car. The monocoque was a Lotus 79 clone, but with sidepods and suspension copied from Williams. It wasn't exactly successful and was set aside at the end of the 1980 season due to sponsorship and entry problems.
