For a mass publicised free day out having qualy rules like that is just silly innit??!!

Still we'll get the hang of it eventually and I guess the 'day outers' won't be too bothered?

Today's race - well it's Barcelona isn't it? Not a great track for overtaking at any level. However, Martinez was fortunate. There was clear signs that at various stages Valles and earlier on Turvey would've troubled him greatly if they hadn't been held up by Baguette? Valles had that punt at Turn 1 but it couldn't make it stick. There were a ferw quicker guys down the order that were too far back to make a big deifference; Molina, Hartley and Zaugg did quite a lot of quick laps during the race.

Jaime gifted Oliver his place as the latter looked far more comfortable in the early going I thought and pressure told in the end.

Move was all over the shop wasn't he?? How there wasn't a massive shunt when he hasd that swarming bunch all over him I'll never know!

well i think the point is there's not a great deal of people who go to the day out who know who most of the drivers are, let alone need to understand the qualifying structure. those who do know what they're watching tend to understand the way the qualifying system works. superpole works nicely at the circuit, i just don't understand why they insist on making it redundant by reversing the grid for the second race. surely it makes more sense to take the first race result and play with that instead.

I know I'm being a purist here, but if you have two races, then you simply have two qualifying sessions. That jumbles up the grid a bit and is not confusing to the spectators.

In Bucharest last year BF3 had Q1 and Race 1 on the Saturday and Q2 and Race 2 on the Sunday and it worked very well. WSR is supposed to be the main event, so the time factor should not be a problem.

they normally run 2 qualifying sessions, then take the superpole from there. it's really fairly equal billing with the megane series, so you'd be looking at running qualifying for both of them for both days. then you've still got eurocup frenault and local frenault to fit in plus parades for the local renault owners plus the f1 runs. there's no point in 2 qualifying sessions in my opinion.

it's not a racing series, first and foremost it's a crowd entertainment device. the closest to actual racing series they have is formula renault 2.0 with the eurocup and wec/local series.

In that case we are talking about two different things, although I'd have to say there wasn't much entertainment in today's race.

Valles was able to attack Baguette, but Turvey clearly wasn't fast enough to go after Baguette or Valles, let alone Martinez. On the twisty part, Valles was able to come very close to Baguette, but on the straights, Baguette was just so much faster. You could see very clearly that Baguette always had a good last chicane exit and took a lot of speed on the straight, while Valles continuously changed his lane in that chicane and was a lot slower there.

by the sounds of it the only way to increase entertainment levels on todays race would have been a good rain shower or something... i'm not sure renaultsport have the power to do that just yet

Nice run by Adrian Zaugg, coming from 22nd on the grid to finish 10th.

Right on both counts, Bella... but there were VERY dark clouds gathering by the end and it HAILED on Friday afternoon, so we might all want to pray for snow or something to liven up this afternoon's affair...

Sadly, Barcelona was always boring in F3000, is always boring in GP2 and has always been boring in WSR...

fun to drive but only 2 real over-taking points, so not too hard to defend - although watching Daniil Move, you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise!

Very jumbled start of R2 - both Epsilon Euskadi cars race ruined within 1/3 of a lap!!

Pic's disappearing, Move's holding everyone up and there's bit of a sort out going on behind though!

Alguersuari (Ctrl + C!) is slightly closing on Pic, but that lead is pretty big already

Few spots of rain to add some spice as well.

Let's see how the order shakes out after the stops!!

The 2 guys either side of Provenzano before he went off were not Martinez and Hartley! Looked more like Schlegelmilch and someone else?

If it doesn't rain, there'll be no spice for the win - Pic is a second a lap faster than anyone

The race message has changed to Alguersuari being investigated after the race.

Shades of A1GP Team Ireland from A1GP last week?

Looking good for Martinez...though he forgot to pit
