The only GT2 spec car in the race is the #7 RSR of ARC Bratislava, the car will be balanced to its GT3 bretheren and has German Marco Schelp and a pair of Polish gentlemen joining team owner Miro Konopka.

Very impressed by the amount of coverage that Eurosport are due to provide.

Entry looks particularly strong; hard to pick an obvious winner. Hope those attending have a great event.

You mean Motors TV.

The event is getting more and more prestige.

Looks like there's going to be a lot more coverage of this race than last year's race. I think last year we had a page with 3 static camera shots of the circuit (2 of the pit straight, and one of some random corner which I couldn't fathom out where on the track it was), and the commentary was from a Tannoy that wasn't connected to the webcam, ie. we were hearing it as it was read out to the circuit, ie. we heard echoed mumbling completely drowned out by the sound of the cars as they passed.

PS. I intend to attend/join any endurance racing party that may be held in the chat room.

Every year the break and ensuing speculation get very boring to me, but this year I feel like we are right back to it. I am very pleased.

RLM said earlier they could see 80-90% of the circuit from their booth.

The circuit does fit into the side of a small hill so it is reasonably easy to see quite a bit of it from the pit straight which at the higher end of the circuit, viewing is helped by really big run off areas so the concrete walls don't obscure too much of the circuit.

They will get slapped with BoP adjustments now though.

As good as the Dubai event certainly is, this stuff is just overly complicated with the "joker" times and everything.

Sports car racing is hard to follow as it is, this just makes it worse.. I can't see how a casual motorsport fan is supposed to understand this.

I am confused. What prohibits them from sandbagging during qualifying in order to not get any restrictions?

Nothing, Jeroen Bleekemolen just admitted on twitter that they are in 15th place and haven't put in any real fast laps, just to avoid getting a weight penalty.

These fuel tank reductions also seem huge. A 4 sec faster lap time (2:02 vs 2:06) means 20 liter less fuel

Good lord, and I thought SRO/ADAC/GARRA BoP or ACO GTE waivers were bad, this takes it to a whole new level.

To be fair ACO, IMSA, GA, and other non-GT3 championships have plenty of BoP and waivers, but like I said, this is a whole new level. Speed Limit Racing, hooray!

They also changed the GT3 BoP after Nurburgring 24 quali last year but this is even worse.

It's a freaking clown show on wheels!

They have, but GT2 has some actual rules and BoP is somewhat fair still.

Don't give them any ideas, next thing you know we'll have a theoretical maximum speed enforced, also.

On a related note, the Bathurst 12H organisers are following the same system. As if qualifying wasn't irrelevant enough for these races...
They've rendered qualifying null/void, and ruined any likelihood of creating however small a spectacle out of the sessions.
