French GP - Gibernau Wins Again!

Sete Gibernau won his second race of the season in a rain-split race that caused the last 13 laps to be raced under wet conditions. The Spaniard out-raced Rossi over the final lap to win his second race of the year.

The 250cc and 125cc races were dominated by Spaniards, Toni Elias winning easily in the former while Daniel Pedrosa destroyed the opposition in the 125cc races.

What is with Sete Gibernau? I never thought of him as more than just a competent rider, and now he's beaten the invincible Rossi twice. Of course, I'm relatively new to bike racing, and the way Rossi's been riding, everyone else has only looked competent.

I can suspect a Cinderella season for him this year, an improbable "Win one for Daijiro" run to the MotoGP championship.

great race there after the restart , Sete proved that he really is a challenger , but ya gotta think Rossi will eventually get on top of him , but its great to see him up there.

shame the Ducati's failed in the first race and great to see the likes of McWilliams and McCoy and Haga up towards the front due to the conditions of course but still great to see.

well done to sete on a fine performance

Gibernau is certainly riding the crest of a wave at the moment. One would have thought the bubble burst at Jerez, but his strategy in the second half of the race today was very good indeed.

Sete is certainly riding out of his skin at the moment. Perhaps he realises the burden that he now carries for the team, not only after Kato's tragic death, but he also has to deliver the results.

aggregate results are no more because the leader of the first race can just sit in the pack and not take any riskes, and thats boring.

It was a very good race. Every now and then its good to see Rossi pushed. As long as a fellow Honda rider is the one doing the fighting I am ok with some second place finishes. Rossi really showed how much he wanted to win. The attempts he made on the last lap were incredible. Sete did well to keep his composure.

Now if Honda gets the 250 bike together Rolfo may actually become a factor.

I find strange this non-aggragate format. If riders do 18 laps and rain appears and the they restart for just two laps it is going to be unfair.

I suppose they consider it as a "safety car" period: all riders bunch together, but starts in bikes are more chaotic than car's, and the first one or two laps are not very significant, and sometimes a second or third row rider gets a lead.

Anyway the fight in Le Mans was awesome and Sete is riding like a heroe against the great Valentino.

I still wonder what is the point of the first race. Rossi was leading by 3 seconds, and under normal circumstances (and the old system) he probably wouldn't have been caught. After the new start he got caught up in a battle and couldn't get away, meaning he loses the race despite setting a faster (full) race time. Hardly right in my opinion.

Its good to see the dominant racer get pressed. Gibernau may have found his competitive groove. We have all seen it happen in other forms of racing. A racer gets that first break through win and then the rest come like a flood. It was good to see a rider force Rossi into the mistake instead of the opposite. I like Rossi, but I don't want the championship to be a runaway.

Where are them from? Is it the exit of Museum?

It's a left hander (Dunlop chicane, Museum, "fast" chicane, second last corner) and the drivers are down , so I asume they are not braking. They seem to go from interior to exterior, so I suppose it is an exit point.

Of course all that will be probably wrong, lol. But... please, where is it?
