Has anyone heard if Steve Briffa is racing at Bathurst this year? If so, who are the co-drivers?

Unconfirmed but Steve may be running two cars..... his VE Clubsport and another rather unique vehicle
At minimum, I believe Steve is running the VE. |

Would you consider the "unique vehicle" to be a front runner or just a class contender?

Right brand, but add 4 cylinders. Unconfirmed at this stage though, at Sandown I believe it was a 50:50 chance depending on funding and drivers.
In other to be confirmed news, Chris Delfsma will be driving a Wilson Brothers Subaru STi, with his BF Falcon GT possibly being piloted by Terry Wyhoon and TBAs. Jim Hunter has built a Subaru STi and has John Bowe in the team, and Paul Stubber is partnered with Barry Morcom in the Rondo 335i. Briffa's co-drivers were rumoured to be the Holdsworth boys again, but I haven't had any confirmation on this yet. |

Alfacors, are they the older style STI's or the new hatch?

The Jim Hunter STi is the new hatch!
The WBR STi's are 2005 and they are running 3 of them at the event. |

I hope the thing about the Holdsworth boys are correct. Maybe they can get a good result after what happened last year. |

It appears MR Pearson has got the Evo X up to speed and is now quicker than the old EVO VIII. He will have 3 x EVO X and maybe 1 or 2 of the EVO VIII if people come up with the budget

OK, there's a bit to get through, so listen up.
A Holden Motorsport entry, a Holden Sportswagon, for Nathan Pretty, Russell Ingall and Andrew Jones(still a Holden Motorsport driver, or is this a "negotiation" to give up his full-time V8 seat, I wonder?). Jim Hunter has entered 3 Subaru's...2xRS Impreza's for an all-Bathurst crew and 1 for an all-female crew. Jim Hunter will be joined by John Bowe and Gavin Bullas in a new model STi. An all McLeod family Holden Astra entry. Defending champs Damien White and Rod Salmon to be joined by Tony Longhurst in either a EVO 9 or 10. Wilson Brothers Racing(WBR) entering 3 2005 model STi's, with a confirmed entry of Lee Castle, Rodney Forbes and Craig Baird. Bob Pearson running AT LEAST 3 of the new Evo X's with a driver line-up including Bob, Glenn Seton, Neil Crompton, Jason Bargwanna, Mark King, Steve Knight, Bruce Stewart, Brad Jones and Anton Mechtler. A few V8 Utes have been entered, some still looking for drivers. Gary Holt and Paul Morris, with a yet to be named driver in the BMW 335i, which claimed the 2007 race. It's looking like it will be a great race, with a field up on entries from previous years. Check out the official website for other drives available if you or anyone you know wants a drive at this year's race. |

So who is running the Holden Motorsport Sportswagon? Previously haven't HMS entries been run by GRM or Perkins - both of whom are now no longer on the recieving end of Holden funding in V8SC....

The sportwagon and the astra's have come out of Moris's workshop and been run by his crew

Jesus.... if even half of what Belly says is accurate, the 12 hour will be a terrific contest. Certainly not the joke most people think it would be....
To have so many gun drivers in the mix already, helps this great event just grow in stature. Hopefully this is the beginning of the 'next' phase of the 12 hour in terms of growth. If 2009 is already looking this good, look out for 2010... :-) |
