Yes, the front looks very nice. The only thing I am not completely over-the moon with is the rear spoiler. We are all hoping that this is not the definitive version.

I see current Gen 911 GT2 in that. Looking good, seems longer as well. Is this confirmed on the new generation 991?

If I understand your question you are inquiring if the 991 is longer. If, so, then the answer is yes. The overall length grows by 2.2 inches and the wheelbase by 3.9 inches. Rear axle moved back by about 3 inches.

That's what I was asking, thanks! I could tell just by the pictures of this car and of the new 911 that the car was longer, definitely the wheelbase. I haven't read any of the information on it though, so I wanted confirmation.

The roof is also lower, so that also helps in giving it a longer and low-slung look.

Did anyone listen to RLM last night (Countdown to Le Mans GTE)?
Hindy mentioned that the 911 RSR will be replaced by the mid-engined 960. I'm just not sure if he said when the 997 RSR fades away , or if he said after the 991 RSR (if there is going to be one) fades away. Can anyone clarify? |

Maybe the non GT2/GT3 911s will become even more grandtourey, and the 960 will be more hardcore? |

I dont know how solid the information is. Hindy was quite adamant. I have also heard rumors indicating this to be the case.
Porsche need a competitive GTE product for the "top" GTE series, and this certainly makes a lot of sense. Furthermore, there have been some persistent rumors that there might not be a 991 GT3 RS (road-going) and therefore no corresponding RSR. This is why I'm trying to find out exactly what Hindy said (I was not really paying too much attention at the time). This would give us an indication of the time frame. |

aww crap...so were stuck with bopmobiles for the foreseeable fuure...and as a result, I don't think the class that the 960 might be aiming for will be present, or require a competitive product to be in the top...chances are is that gte will soon turn into gt3 and porsche could race their 991 without problems...

No 991 GT3RS. The "normal" GT3 is already being spied around town.

Seems odd Porsche won't make a limited run RS edition if they are going to make the GT3 - there isn't too much different and you can charge a whack more. Plus it gives RS owners the ability to look down on "mere" GT3 owners at track days. |

PS. I would be really surprised if they didn't make the RS, not that surprised about the RSR...I expect if they are not going for the RSR, they can introduce the RS latter on, and thus have a better impact on the sales... |

Please bear in mind that this is all speculation based on rumor. Nothing is factual yet.

Whenever I read these threads, as a fan (and hater) of things myself I sometimes have to kick myself. I think I've said this before...
Especially in racing, you want to beat your enemy at the top of your game and their game. You want to win in a fair fight, with no debate as to who won. It might be fun for you for at max 1 year to see Porsche struggle in GTE arakis, but if I were you I might think even one year would be too long. As a hardcore Porsche or Ferrari fan, I'd want to see stacked factory or near factory teams battling at the front of the pack with the best available drivers, no rules breaks for either car. If Porsche is hurting, the wins don't mean as much or are as enjoyable for Ferrari, and vice versa. Let's hope that the (what I think is the fastest car this season) 458 gets some strong competition from Porsche ASAP, in the form of a 991 or 960! Sportscar racing and its fan only serve to benefit! |

Right! I have found the part that I was looking for.
No worries: Hindy says that the 960 will be the 991 replacement. That is at least 5 to 7 years away, so I will not hold my breath. |

Beauty. It has become a great rivalry; the 911 taking on whatever the RMR V8 Ferrari of the day is.
