Seems like a long time since we had a DTM race. The 07's are closer on ballast this round, and Spengler and Ekstrom are the 2 previous winners of the event so, I look forward to it.

Say, is that a live stream feature now at dtm.com? Of both qualifying and the races? Guess we'll find out in about 45 minutes or so.

DTM's got the best startaufstellungs.
Not unexpected, the live stream didn't work over here - what happened to Ekstrom? And Susie's 13th? |

No surprise who is last... Or is there? At the end of july, according to www.autosport.nl, the German magazine 'Motorsport Actuell' wrote that she would be replaced. The battle for best woman in the series is anaway long won by Stoddard...

WHAT!? It's a one hr later start than usual, apparently. Geez.
I'm not sure Susie's started a race as high as that ever...total guess though. Good for her. |

thats true, i dont think she has started that high (in DTM)(FRenult at brands she was 3rd on the grid with comtec, i think), she did have a good finish last year as high as 10th, after the season she has had this year i think she will be very happy finishing higher than tenth, best of luck to her and the team.

sounds like it went tits up, quote from DTM.com
Susie Stoddart, TV Spielfilm AMG Mercedes C-Class (18th place): “My start was not really good and I lost some positions. The drive-through penalty due to crossing the white line finally destroyed my race. After my good performance in yesterday’s qualifying, I had expected more and now I am very disappointed.” |

Another boring race. DTM needs some changes, right now it is awful.

The car in question would be the 407. Peugeot don't have a V8 engine in their product range, but I don't think that is neccessary for DTM.
Crazy Leftfield-theory: In 2010 the new Le Mans prototypes have to be coupés and spot greater resemblances to the roadcars of the respective brands. Can anyone see the DTM (they'd have to rename it!!) switching to those cars?? The rules for 2010 will be out this fall and Pug and Audi are already involved in Le Mans... |

I don't think DTM-spectators are waiting for lemans-like cars, wich aren't touring cars, are they. Having said that, the new rules will probably be written in a way that would please both Audi and Mercedes, but are also able to attract one or more new manufacturers.
So the main question is what type of rules will fit that need? What I would like is a sort of S2000-type of technical regulations, but with bigger engines, let's say 3l. Let's call it S3000. Engines would be about 350-400hp. Aero should be only a little bit more than S2000-cars, as well as Tyres. Driver aids should be minimized. Cars should have rear-wheeldrive, or 4-wheeldrive, but only if the streetcar is available withe 4-wheeldrive to, and the those cars should carry a penaltyweight. The 4-wheeldrivesystem is also limited to mechanical differentials e.d. it's base system should not be more complicatied than the system on the road-going car. Cars that would meet these regulations are probably the Mercedes C and the Audi A4, but also the BMW 330i, the Lexus whatsitsname, Alfo Romeo 159 (there is a 4-wheeldrivetype, isn't there?) the Jaguar S-type, and probably also some American cars. If the FIA would exclude rear-wheeldriven cars from S2000 as is sometimes proposed then BMW have a really good opportunity in this championship. |

But like the author writes at autosport.nl don't make to much conclusions about Peugeot's visit to DTM. It's not the first time manufacturers visit a series were they are not involved. At the forum of dtm.com I read 9 manufacturers are involved in discussions about the new technical details of S2000. And maybe Peugeot visited Audi to talk about LMS 2008? According autosport.nl DTM will have a new set of technical rules in 2009. Main changes: cost reduction, less aero parts (for more action and overtaking) and less room for (team) tactics. |

They should't reduce the engine size, keep the 4ltr V8's just look at the OZ and NZ V8 cars, packed grids and a load of paying spectators all with only 2 manufactures battling it out every other weekend, DTM just needS to stop the team orders and let the teams fight it out.
