A14 travel news 19&20 September 2009

Some information for those travelling westbound on the A14 through junctions 35 (Stow cum Quy) and 34 (Fen Ditton). The road is closed for resurfacing from 19:00 Saturday (19/09/09) night until 07:00 Sunday (20/09/09) morning.

Diversion is from Junction 36 (Nine Mile Hill) south along A11 until A505 (Great Abingdon). Then West to M11 (Duxfords), then North and back to A14 at Girton if you are travelling West or North. Traffic control starts at Junction 37 (Exning).

Sunday (20/09/09) night Lane One is closed at Junction 35.

And for those doing the MGCC meeting in October it's the East Bound side closed with the same diversion. But in reverse and a U-turn around at junction 33 flyover if you don't believe the signs.

More to follow when I get the fully information.

Don't suppose you have a link to a map of the exact location please.

You'd miss it Rod - the resurfacing is on the bit between the A11 split and Cambridge (if you're travelling East to West), which means that you'd just fly up the A11 onto the A14 without any hold-up. And on the way home, you'll miss it too.

People going to the west will be affected (in the first phase)

With local knowledge for cars only (weight restrictions apply on some of these roads) - off at the A142, head into Newmarket, go through the town, follow out past the race course, you will come to a large roundabout - take the A1303 (3rd exit), follow to the A14 intersection at Quy. Go straight over (don't try to join the A14!!), turn right into "High Ditch Road", follow to until it meets Ditton Lane - turn right, follow to A14 junction, turn left, rejoin A14 at J34.

Unless they have been clever and shut it further than that.....

Or take the easy and safe option and follow the official diversion.

For a map of that zone, look 'ere....

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&...image&resnum=1

This shows J34-36 A14, and it's relationship with the A11 at Nine Mile Hill (which is Nine Miles from the centre of Newmarket....IIRC)
