Robin Plummer should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
For me it has to be Zanardi overtaking Herta in the 1996 Laguna Seca race?

What's yours?

I would agree, although Michael Andretti's airborne passing of 3 cars at Mid-Ohio in '98 was quite magnificent. He got passed right back though lol

Toronto, 1998. Zanardi's passes on Andretti and Herta on the last laps after going nearly a lap down are hard to forget.

Yep! Zanardi's pass of Herta at the corkscrew. Then the other literal over... at Road America when Herta was stopped backwards and I can't remember who, went up over and rested on Herta. Seems Herta just can't get no respect.

To be honest I thought that Zanardi should have been black flagged for the pass on Herta in the corkscrew. crossed the apex of the corner to make the pass. It is like someone passing a car in Monaco, at the chicane after the tunnel by taking the shortcut.

I liked Zanardi's pass on Andretti in Molson Indy 1998. It was right in front of where I was sitting, and there were Italian guys jumping around me. What a blast!

I also liked Greg Moore's pass on Zanardi in Rio 1998. Where Alex, a backmarker and Greg went into a corner 3 wide. Greg moved across the backmarker and then Zanardi to win the race. Zanardi almost stuffed it into the wall there!

Jay, at the time of Zanardi's 'Pass', everything he did was LEGAL. This move made CART officials come up with a rule that would not allow such things to go on anymore though. A driver can not leave the circuit and pass for position anymore.

Last year in Road America, (Andretti was on pole and Montoya was second), Montoya overtook Andretti right at the start, and he had to put his left tires on the grass to do that. That was spectacular enough. But the race was stopped because of an accident in the first lap, and in the restart Montoya did exactly the same move one more time, and again he managed to overtake Andretti. I wish I could have seen Mickey's face the second time it happened.

Alex definately takes the prize. Nobody before or since has had the guts or car control to pass in the dreaded corkscrew.
