HSCC at Donington
I've just had confirmation from Fay that next weekend's meeting at Donington is a go.

Not got mine either but considering the meeting only got the greenlight on Friday, I'll give it a couple of days before I start worrying!

Messages from both the HSCC & MGCC say they have been advised by Donington that the meetings are both on.

According to the above mentioned thread, the circuit has been issued a temporary licence today

Yes a temp licence for 1 weekend only, but the new layout is so so dangerous, Mcleans to Coppice exit will be a constant yellow flag zone. There is no run off, hope no one trys to take Mcleans at speed and ends up in the tunnell wall!

I think some of the HSCC tickets have only been sent out today, so please bear with us.
If you do not receive tickets by Friday lunchtime please let me know or phone me and I will arrange for some to be at the Paddock Entrance for you. For the time being entrance will be via the Paddock Entrance, then on to the GP loop, round the circuit and off at the inside of Redgate. Sign-on will be in the normal place under the Coppice Suites. Where you will be able to park after that I am not sure, but we will advise you at sign-on. Thank you for bearing with us. Fay Crook Chief Marshal - HSCC |

The paddock entrance road normally opens up again for a race meeting, it is to keep the travellers off Donington!
It should be open as long as Donington can afford the staff wages to open it. Last weekend, we discovered there is only one set of toilets for the whole track now, it's at Hollywood! |

Sounds interesting. I'm almost sorry I have not yet got sufficiently organised to volunteer for any meetings yet.
Anyone got any photos of the new layout? Difficult to see how any meeting much bigger or more "important" than this weekend's events could go ahead. (No offence HSCC/MGCC, but you know what I mean. ) Regards Jim |

Well, they have best part of a month before the first major on the 25th, so hopefully they'll have got it sorted. But I am struggling to figure out what the problem actually is? They've built a wall right up against the side of the track?!

It's the new infield access tunnell, the entrance is right against the actual race track on the inside, and the exit is right against the actual race track at the outside, hence no run off at either side. I don't think the F1 drivers will like it. It is a mess. No other work for 2010 GP has been done yet.

Unlike Melbourne, Singapore and Monaco! If you stay on the track you won't hit anything. |

The MSA don't deem it fit for club racing, hence a licence for 1 weekend only and no racing from Mcleans approach to Coppice exit.
What chance is there of the Palmer Audi meeting going ahead on 18th/19th April? Donington seem reluctant to alter anything. Robert Feranall of Donington is blaming Tilke, saying he should have cleared the plans with the MSA before building it! |

Well surely an experienced architect of racing tracks would have known not to... oh wait, Tilke... Say's it all really doesn't it?
I await pictures and Donington's plans to rectify the situation with great interest. |

They could always get rid of the new tunnell and go back to square one or close for a few months and do a re-work to get a track licence again, either way I don't think there will be a British GP next year.

The plan on Donington's website shows a bridge, not a tunnel
http://www.donington-park.co.uk/file...aster_plan.pdf (NB: file rather large for those on dial up) But it does show run off on both sides of the black stuff. |
