Rod Birley should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Lydden 15th Feb.

After the unexpected problem with the Dec.28th date it is good to report that the meeting has been re-arranged for SATURDAY 15th. February. Although it is a Saturday hopefully not too many people will be put off. The earlier start time this allows will accomodate the stock rod/stock hatch challenge. Both teams are especially keen that this should go ahead and the return match has been scheduled for Saturday evening 22nd March under the floodlights at Foxhall stadium Ipswich.More details soon.

Great news. Something to look forward to. Can't wait to be freezing my nads off at Lydden again.

Does anyone know who is organising the marshals availability forms for the BRDA MSA rounds of rally X. The rounds were not on the BARC availability although i did get the dates from there website.
I will go and speak to them at the Autosport show.

Glad to hear the news Mr B. I hope we drum up as much support as we did for the aborted December date.

See you at Lydden on 15th February!

Afraid Jackie and I won't be able to come to that one as it clashes with BARC training at Thruxton.

But if anyone can send me a list of the rallycross dates for Lydden during the year, we'd very much like to get to another meet during the year.

Hello Gnomex. I know we will be one short on the 15th as Mad Hats has decided to hang up his probans - and I can't say I blame him either after the incidents he's told me about. It will however be a day tinged with sadness.

Full list of the two teams is on page 18 of this week's Motorsport News. Also there should be some more news on www.shortcircuitmag.com. All the stock rods are Vauxhall Corsas and Novas except for two Toyota Starlets. The stock hatches are mainly Peugeot 205s plus a couple of Novas. Both teams are using Yokohama tyres but slighter different compounds.

Good news. Lydden planning permission has finally been sorted so everything is going ahead as planned for Feb.15th. Spedeworth have given the event some good publicity at their recent meetings and it is on their website at www.stockcar.co.uk. They have also put it in their fixture list.

Well Pinki will be there and is looking forward to it, I was a bit upset at the November date as I couldn't have made that as we were moving house.

Although it is still one week until the closing date, three supercars have so far entered: Pat Doran with his RS200, John Cross with his Focus and Terry Briggs probably with the Audi as the Metro is in bits. Just need a certain person from Whitstable now............

Where is the Irish contingent? I heard through the grapevine there are some very interesting new cars and car/driver combos coming out for the new season.

I spoke to Mr. Gollop this evening and he is possibly going to enter, lets keep our fingers crossed. With regard to the Irish boys, they have a meeting next weekend (Feb 9th) so it is unlikely they will come over. Plus it is a long way for them...but if anybody can persuade them, they will be more than welcome.

Does anybody know the start time for this event, I thought I heard Spedeworth mention 11am at the last Wimbledon event. Is that correct?

Practice is due to start at 9.15 after the drivers briefing and the junior minicross have done their observation laps. The stock rods will have the opportunity to go first as the drivers have not been to Lydden before, followed by the other competitors. Hopefully, with no problems, the heats will start about 10.45. Although it is a very busy programme, there is a short lunch break planned for the marshals. As you can imagine a lot depends on the weather conditions but hopefully the finals will commence about 3 p.m.

Lunch break - ha ha ha! But where will I sit now that Mabbs Bank has gone? On a more serious note, seeing that the bank has now gone, what protection does the startline have now from errant cars? I know the bank has been moved back, but without Mabbs there to keep cars in check when they come round Paddock on the loose, I fear a dramatic increase in cars "falling off" the outside of the rallycross circuit onto the tarmac. It's not just us lot in orange that I fear for - what about the poor jump start beams?

Apparently steps have been taken to rectify the removal of Mabbs bank. Your fears were voiced by other people and a "temporary structure" will be in place. An MSA official is due to inspect this beforehand. Point taken about lunch break but it was managed at the August meeting.
