That is one pretty different looking Audi. I can't say the nose it to my taste at the moment.

The rear wing endplates are the same length as the back of the car. It's a bit weird to my eyes.

Also, the tail is now almost to the full 750mm max length allowed under the current rules. So no special "long tail" for LM.

Some screen captures. Most noticeable at the rear besides the length is they implemented the Toyota solution on the cheese wedges.

Weird-looking indeed. I guess there is more than just brake cooling with those two big ducts at the front.

Some air probably goes to the brake ducts, I'll be that the rest is dumped over the front diffuser and/or into the radiator intakes.

Audi are also running tuning vanes similar to Toyota, Porsche and Rebellion/Oreca behind the front wheels as well.

Other things of note:

Headlights look like a LED/Laserlight version of the Oreca 03's headlights, and this is the first Audi LMP1 car since the R10 where the whole rear clip--not just the rear wing--is to the 750mm max overhang.

It seems that all the evolutions have been done with an eye to maintaining downforce levels similar to last year, but with (hopefully) considerable reduced drag.

It's a short video, but the car is def in sprint spec with HD dive planes, and there's several detail differences, most notably much modified front fenders/brake ducts and the nose is much less shuttered than last year's.

Also, the front fender pontoons are inspired in part it seems from the LM package last year, as well as the rear of the car which features periscope exhaust.

The changes are very visible and significant in the video, though the R18 is in an interm color scheme like last year's car was at Sebring:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5d4Cs044dc
The car sounds quite different. I wonder if they have changes the displacement of the engine, or have a different turbo/exhaust configuration (ERS-H?). Also gotta applaud the effort, the front of the car is completely different, very aggressive.

Why are they running #1? Could this be an updated 2014 car? The headlight cluster is crude, you can tell its not 'finished'; that may tie in to my thought of a 'hybrid' '14/15 car. At the rear fenders, they have holes on the top and the inside, look here

The rear deck has a new shape also.

A move to counteract the Nissan's slippery approach perhaps?

Looks good IMO to me, and I really like the evil testing livery.

If we can be sure of one thing, it would be the usual white-and-something livery come Silverstone. Last year's R18 looked mean in testing as well but that was duly dropped for the actual races.

A face only a mother could love! Damn that thing is **** ugly.

Defiantly cooling more than the brakes, maybe the Ricardo hybrid system requires more cooling, also how is the hybrid system cooled?

Water? if so, a bigger radiator is needed for the system instead of the previous system by Williams.

IF, that is, what's new about this.

I quite like the new front end. Very aggressive!
Could the additional scoops be for cooling a hybrid system located in the front wheels?

I hated how bulky the front area of the chassis looked last year, this has much more aggressive swing to it

Thanks to Lanky

It looks mega at first glance. I just wish they'd keep that livery.

I love it !
but in my opinion, with this livery, the mudguards looks very fat !
I hope a livery which softens the lines of the car.

Audi seem to have "form follows function" down to a fine art. I can't help but think of it as purposeful even though it reminds me of someone without their front teeth.

Surely the cooling slots at the front point to an uprated hybrid (flywheel) system.
