I was able to catch the tail end of the race. I was quite impressed with what I saw. Looks this would be make a perfect alternative to TUSC.

On the other hand I was pondering if it would be possible to have a one off GT3 world cup now that it is making process here. (Might be a bit far in the future however.)

So far, but they haven't ruled out additional races with the Lambos.

It was a great race. The Ferrari was making it hard on the Cadillac all day. I was a bit bored because of the first 20 minutes of the race was run under caution. So that only gave 30 minutes of real racing.

Someone needs to tell Jeremy Shaw that the races are 50 minutes long, not 45.

Good to see Dyson running the Bentley in PWC. Yet more cars for that series.

Perfect alternative...really? I suppose if you mean World Challenge = TUSC then maybe, but I think both leave much to be desired for the proper sports car fan, IMO.

Despite the early caution I felt it was another solid race, happy to see the Cadillac's aren't able to just walk away with things.

Hopefully they can keep the momentum going at Barber, although the streaming still seems to need some work.

Looking at the Barber entry list. Down to 10 GT and 9 GT-A. Where are the SLS and Z4 for GT? Only one Porsche for GT?

The Acura's will show up for GT and Dyson is running two Bentleys, so that number in GT will go back up to 14. Hopefully, the numbers don't keep dwindling where it's one step forward and two steps back.

Good to see another amateur class (TCA) at Barber. Since GTS is so big, I wonder if a GTSA class would be helpful to that series.

Not to mention the series runs on a spec tire which has to drive a ton of potential fans away based on the TUSC threads

Preliminary entry list for Barber: http://www.world-challenge.com/image...ts-Park-v3.pdf

Tim Pappas' SLS is listed, so is the second Effort Porsche.

Joeb: Marcelo Hahn is also listed in a Reiter Lambo (no sign yet of Enge).

Turner's Z4 appearance at St. Pete was a try-out, no word yet about any additional events.

Non entry related:

Good sensible decision by the organizers - and appropriately announced on time as well!

Wow, that Bentley deal is super cool. The coolest thing, last race at the opener, I said to myself "watch a Bentley show up in this series"! Sure enough, here they are.

One is a GT/TC series, that is relatively low key... spec tire, no issue.

The other is pretending to be a top tier racing series...

Yep. Spec tires aren't a deal breaker for me, except when they are designed for one car (DP) and others (P2) have to run them, where they are clearly a hindrance.

I guess you guys are not F1 fans then. I guess that is also pretending to be a top racing series either though. Along with Indycar and DTM as well.

Blancpain Sprint Series or even the FIA GT series are exactly the mark PWC should shoot at. Both have been successful for a while (though GT1-GT3 has had to search for a format some--they seem to have it down now,) everyone who likes road-racing knows them and respects them, they gets good teams, drivers and crowds which means also sponsors ... They have excellent entertainment value (Hear that Mr. Atherton--Real Racing with high entertainment value.)

A race photographer I know said a while ago that this continent is ripe for a GT3 series, and I couldn't agree more. The cars are plentiful, all the balancing BS is already done so the series doesn't have to mess with it, the cars are inherently exciting to auto enthusiasts, and the competition is moribund.

PWC really can't follow the BES format because TUSC still offers too much competition/talent drain, but it can go crazy with its sprint format--maybe look for some headline deals for 2015, or maybe try to get a race or two televised live ....

Who knows? I think road-racing fans will be surprised to see that a North American series can do it right.

Actually I am a F1 fan, tell me which cars in F1 was the tire specifically designed for, and which ones are specifically hindered?
