In Autosport's 2001 BTCC preview they say that in the right conditions, with a bit of luck, a BTCP car could win a feature race involving the BTCT cars, because of pit stops. I hopefully think this will not happen as it will prove a false dawn for the BTCC as Production id not the way to go. What does everybody else think.

I think that may be true in theory, but in practise it just won't happen.

The Alfa Romeo guy said that as well. The BTC Tourers would really have to f*** it up, though for the productions to win.

I think regular victories for the Production class will be unrealistic, but then, not many people gave a privateer much chance a couple of years ago either. If the conditions are right, and the Touring teams have a bad day, who knows?
Don't forget that the Touring category has a had a sizeable reduction in power, and the aero packages are cosmetic only. The racing will be much closer this year, and that's what we all want to see, Right? |

This has happened in Sports Car Racing, if you are a fan of it then you should know the prototype classes. It was a wet track at Spa-Francochamps in Belgium, the LMP 725 are quicker and faster than LMP 675. At the end of the race, the LMP 675 won by about a minute or more (correct me if i'm wrong). So anything can happen in the wet, there could be a big chance that a production car would win in the wet.

Yvan Muller.
Jason Plato. Vauxhall's Third Driver. Matt Neal. Dan Eaves. Steve Soper. Kurt Luby. Enzo Macci. etc. etc. If the above retire, maybe then a production car will win! |
