Track Building and add ons

I think looking at the GPL Repository site Pirenzo is my man for this.
I want to have a go at first at adding things to a track.IE trackside objects but want to know how to do this in simple terms, Yes i am simple too
My intention is to produce a track of my own, this could take years i know.
I am not a young whippersnapper any more so please bear with me.
What would you suggest i start with until i know more about what i am doing.

Thanks in advance.

Pete
PS i have registered with GPL Repository.

There is a track creation guide somewhere Pete - if only I could remember where it is......

There's certainly something linked to or on the GPLEA site itself.

Thanks Ayse,
I will now spend a happy few hours or might that be days reading that link. I know it will be a long and painful time to create from scratch but i am going to persist or die trying. I have never been artistic but this is something i want to have a bash at.

There are a few errors in that guide, and the 'TSO' format is now obsolete with the introduction of trk23doZ (that format will work with trk23doW, and trk23doF though)

Just start with trk23dow though, you need to learn the basics, and know how to use that program's other useful functions which are omitted in the later versions (f and z).
Plus it's run in DOS so that makes it harder

I am currently on the trail of Mantorp Park in Sweden, I have found that a guy started the track but it has past over to a Swedish guy i am trying to contact. On RSC i have been given a couple of leads i am pursuing. This track i believe will be good for GPL it has a long fast straight and some nice sweeps, and a few outbraking points.

The long straight nowadays is used for Drag racing
and has a chicane before it, But in 69 when it was built there was a nice right hander that swept
on to what i believe was a runway. There is a short link to the last bend but in 69 it went left and up to a hairpin before looping back to the finish line.

But i cant seem to make it apply to the car!!!

I have looked at the mur4 car file changed the mip to bmp, changed the colour saved the bmp file and returned it to mip.

check your murasama folder, you may find your new mip has been saved without the '.mip' bit and so will just appear as a 'FILE'
