heel'n'toe-no has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Hi Diz, I know Victor was disappointed with the outcome of the 2004 season, but, so was Mike. How can you discount him after his display at Oulton during 2004. I think that Victor is good but my tip is definately Mike Edgar for the Northern Ireland championship. You can't rule out Dempsey either, if he comes back in 2005.......or is he off doing something else????? Anyone heard?

Hot off the press......we are running a 3 car team this year with both Simon Olley and myself signing up for another year with Michael Edgar Racing. This year instead of sharing a drive with Simon we are ALL doing every round, and it is hoped that we can do one or two of the English championship rounds too......Jury's still out on that one.

Anyway my predictions:

North West
Alan Pike

SOM
Justin Dawkins (In the Ray)

Combe
Nick Lay

SFFC
Keith Wood

King of Kents
Peter Dempsey

Northern Ireland
Mike Edgar

Classic
David Penlington

Well we're fairly close Lee. I'll bow to your NI knowledge - and loyalty to 'the boss'. I'm not sure Pikey has an overall championship in him, but I'm also not certain that Johnny Lob will do the full season in the NW. Still, it's all just speculation at this stage.

John Loebell indicated he would only bring his car out when he didn't have too many other cars to run on a given weekend. Before making predictions I think it would be worth waiting to see who is entered where.

That's what I said " but I'm also not certain that Johnny Lob will do the full season in the NW " But a good dose of "idle predicting" is good for the winter boredom

Just speaking about North West i think it could be quite hard for John Lobell to take the overall title if he is not going to do all the races as the Pre 90 is going to be very hard fought next year. Was there not a rumour doing the rounds that JD was going to forsake SOM for NWFF ?, if so he would have to be in with a very good chance. Other than that, and modesty prevents me from tipping myself I think Alan Pike would start as my tip however if Chris Hodgen, David Marshall or Chris Chisnall can do all the races and get into a run of form they all have the speed to pull it off . In the meantime, a Happy New Year to you all

Why deal in rumours when you can read exactly what he says on the subject on clubff1600.co.uk? Anyway, I think if JD did NW FF1600 he would walk it unless there are a few more people taking part we don't yet know about.

Don't know about any of the british championships, but for northern ireland Noel Dunne is the man for me,he showed all the local experts the way around kirkstown at the final round setting the fastest lap of the year for 1600's and this was only his return to ff after a a long absence.....Dont forget Neville Smyth either.....rumour has it he's changing his car for next season for something more modern so you can expect 100% commitment from team Athgoe..

By the way nobody mentioned Southern Ireland ff1600...With 18 cars for next season, double headers and a trip to Silverstone this will be another one worth watching..Again Noel and Neville should be the men to look out for, however the returning of Alan Dwyer to ff1600 should make it a hard fought battle..

Walshy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Pre 90 Oulton Park next year is gonna be something. A good healthy grid (up to now) and some good drivers.

As Dave Bailey proved this year, consistancy moves you up the table and I think it will be all about who can put a good run of results together. There are plenty of people who can win races outright down at Oulton, but that's running from the front. Either way, I think with all the fever currently surrounding FF1600, this could be a very glorious year for our category......

Bring it on........

Yes Walshy your right, i think both races will be electric, can't wait to be in the thick of it. Someone should get Sky Sports on board. It would be a great championship to cover.

It would be interesting if Jamie Morrow were back in the SOM to renew his rivalry with Justin. And what about Gavin Wills, the class act of last years championship?

I agree with Walshy: 2005 is shaping up to be a cracking year. The pre-'90 lads (and lasses) will be bursting at the seams with new drivers and new driver/car combinations. John Loebell being reunited with his Reynard would have to be my tip if his team committments permit anything like a full season. As for us post-'89 types well, I feel possibly one of the most open titles yet? Alan Pike has a year under his belt with his car. We have last year's Class B champion Chris Chisnall backed up by Neil Mac. Then we have Mark Chadwick who seemed to get better race by race in 2004. For us slighter older guys in post-'89 we have Dave Marshall, Chris Hodgen, Mike Bibby, Jez Unsworth and least I forget myself (me not being quite as modest as Ray).

One hell of a year in prospect!

Darcym - I was only joking.

Being serious, FF1600 SOM has put Jamie's career back on the map, so a big thank you to Duncan and Brian at Infiniti - a great team, Ian Sowman and everyone else in FF1600 who were so supportive through last season.

Looking forward, Jamie's got serious interest from top Formula BMW, Formula Renault, Spanish F3 and 'oval' teams. Lets hope Dad can do his bit and raise a budget. Fingers crossed.

Happy New Year.

No idea Jamie. Registrations go to Steve Burns nowadays and application forms won't be available until ASI
I suppose we will have our usual goodly numbers though.

I understand that Redracer has been seen out testing with his new car already . A Maclaren i believe.

Notice the upright driving position for greater visability, the new all weather cover and the rather comfy six point harness.
