Ferrari FX, or F60?

OK I saw a picture of the new Ferrari, codenamed the FX, now some are saying its going to be the F60 but i'm a bit confused.

I thought the F60 would be made for the 60th anniversary of Ferrari in around 5 years, like the F40 was for the 40th anniversary and the F50 for the 50th anniversary in 1987 and 1997 respectively.

So that means that if the FX is released this year it can't be the F60.

Right?

Not necessarily.

The FX is just the concept name. I think it will probably be called the F60, simply as an evolution thing - F40, F50, F60.

paulzinho, are you sure the f60 is being released this year? i'm sure the f50 was released nearer 1995, even though to commemorate 1997.

Personally I think ALL the "F-cars" are lookers. F40 is my personal dream car from the modern era, but even the F50 is not a bad peice of kit, especially pretty in the flesh.

The F60 (it WILL be the F60, surely?) is another lovely looking car. Looks like that concept of a 200mph Toyota Celica not so long ago.

The F40 is lovely. The F50 is horrible and the F60/FX is totally 100% repulsive. How can they even think of releasing that oversized hoover head!!!???

Beauty's in the eye of the beholder, as they say. I personally find it strikingly beautiful. Especially when you look at it from every angle (check it out @ http://www.supercarsite.net/fx.htm ). Plus rumor has it that it might be named "Enzo"! It's got to be pretty special, then!

i like it it has a bit of Toyota Gt1 mixed in with it - minus the rear wing. i like that the design is bold and agressive. i thought the F50 looked a bit tame and friendly.

That is one ugly car, it looks like a real mixed bag, current F1, current production Ferrari, '70s concept car and a bit of ute. Was it designed in parts by a series of committees who never actually met?

The final product would be very much close to what OVERSTEER had placed above. To me i think it looks good, not strikingly beautiful like the F355, or the Dino, but in a purposeful sort of way... focused functionality, impressive details, bold aggressive... worthy to sit beside the other Ferraris.

As for the name...if it is really termed F60, it'd kind of put the original reason for the number behind the F to be meaningless, doesnt it?
