Tony_Simpson should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
My first car was a good old Vauxhall Nova, this time the 1.2 Club. It came with alloys and a rear spoiler (oooooooo). By the time I had finished with it it had Nova SR springs on, SR front rear bumpers, SR interior and a drain pipe for an exhaust. Sorry it was my boyracer phase,

My brother now has the car as his first car, and it is now rusting away.

My first car was the one I have right now. A 1996 Peugeot 205 GRi. had it since December 1999 and it sure took a lot of saving to buy it. A lot of CD's that I didn't buy, a lot of chocolate that I didn't eat . But in the end it was all worth it.

Well it is an old design so you can't expect 21st century standard handling, and plus they've lasted this long, and with a little TLC should have plenty of years left in them.

21st century handling? No, but I wouldn't have minded handling that wasn't being condemned in the motoring press by the mid 1960s!

True, the VW spares situation is absolutely brilliant, which is a point in their favour. Hey, if you can find one, why not try a Fastback like my old one? Definitely distinctive!

A 1964 Triumph TR4 with a bad master cylinder that resisted rebuilding. Sailed right through a couple of intersections with that little puppy. The Lucas electrics led me to believe that it must always be daylight in the British Isles, for they obviously had no need for regularly functioning lights.

Yet, it began a lifelong love/hate relationship with British Leyland, having since owned a MGB, a Triumph GT6 and a Jaguar XJ6C plus a Triumph and Norton motorcycle. All needing more attention than they ever received, or deserved.

The only car that my dad ever bought brand new was a 1974 (I think) Beetle 1300S, it drank petrol like it was going out of fashion and he only kept the car for one month.
Whilst mentioning my dad, his first car was a black Morris Minor, part of the reg was LEN and my dad was in the Advanced Motorists at the time. Everyone there knew him as Len because of the car. That's now 40 years ago, but he still gets christmas cards which are addressed to Len!

I wouldn't mind either a beetle, or a Kharmann Ghia, but the fastback is a nice car.
Yes I know Kharmann Ghia's seem to be very few and far between but a very nice car none the less.

Mk 2 Zephyr, bought for $300NZ about 1985,however it didn't end up being used on the road, in the end we put a cage in it raced it at speedway,so I guess my first real car was a 1967 VC Valiant which we used to tow it!

The same piece of garbage I've got now, a badly rusted 1988 Ford Mustang with a 90-horsepower 2.3L straight four. Bought it in June of 2000. It's an absolute piece of garbage, but what do you expect for $500 US?

A Mk 2 Ford hescourt, in beige, with complementing chrome wheel trims, RS rear bumper from local Ford garage, couple of extra spots fitted across the colour coded grill, ( yuck )Xr3 clock above mirror, Janspeed system straight through, twin Mark Webbers and of course the go faster stripes. What a car that was, until it met with its death on a Monday evening, when an Astra GTA went head on into me on a bend......The peddals were tangled round my feet, but i still out of him...

My first car waS A 1971 Austin Healey Sprit MK1. I borrowed £50 of my dad when I was 16, bought a complete rusty wreck and spent 3 hard years turning into a pristine sports car, then promptly sold it borrowed £2K from the bank and bought a 1961 Austin Healey 3000 - it seemed like a mortgage at the time but I am still the proud owner of that car - and it is worth a lot more than the £2,800 I paid for it.

If I could find a picture this would probably have made a good "name the car from the headlights" post, but I my first car, which I also took my test, was a 1955 Austin A30, 803cc of throbbing A-series power

And before anyone asks, no I'm NOT that old.

My first car was a 1977 Vauxhall Chevette 1600. It was brown and only lasted for 3 months when it suffered terminal engine damage.

Needless to say, I went out and bought a 1980 Chevette estate as a replacement and it did me well until I could afford to insure a more modern car.

As much as it still makes me cringe it was a 60's Mitibishi colt "fastback" I thrashed that heap around for a year and although it rarely broke down it wasn't the most stylish thing to pick the ladies up in.

1984 VK Commodore was my first car, an ex-taxi that had clocked it about three times. It was on LPG, (and on its last legs), so it was pretty cheap to run, which was great because I was saving up to buy a proper car (a Falcon)
