Self Indulgence

Guys and girls,

I finally picked up the Ducati today. Brand new and a worthy replacement for the Beemer. So please excuse my self indulgence as I carefully rev the thing through the running-in period.

I have spent the evening in the garage admiring the beauty of the design. Tomorrow it's the road again.

Life is good.

I watched as a friend wreck a 916 a few years ago, silly boy pulled a wheelie and dropped it
. It slid down the road to the 'T' junction at the end, over the junction past a very surprised Volvo driver and vaulted itself over the kerb and came to rest on the pavement.

He laughed about it later!

I have only once ridden a new Ducati (my brothers 94 750ss)and that same day and on the same bike became the first person to drop a bike on a Ducati club run, luckily with minor damage, what model did you buy?

An ST2, similar motor to the 750SS only 944cc's. The thing goes really well, I had a great time revving it through corners on the way to Ebor, the other side of Dorrigo today. And the sound from the less restrictive Staintune pipes. Bellissimo.

Ah well I spose it is a Ducati even if it is a rubber band bike lol,not that i'm jealous but it'll still be another year before I can even think about another bike.

Another 300 klms under the wheels this afternoon. Up the old road to Grafton then across the Mount Gibraltar range. Great road this one. There is heaven to be found between 6 to 8 thousand revs.

This thing is really good at ridiculous speeds on an open road. It would be too slow for a track bike - tappering off at 220 klms/hr. But on the road, fantastic.

Hi Shane. No problem. You gotta try a Ducati once in your life. All that grunt and open road prowess. The only thing like it is a Moto Guzzi.

My mate's got a 996 Hodgson Replica. With very silly cans. A thing of sheer beauty. And very very noisy. We find it highly entertaining to fire it up in his garage at 2 in the morning. Unfortunately, his neighbours don't seem to be bike fans...

garcon, truely a thing of beauty. They made Hodgson, Bayliss and Bostrom replicas.

Not a bad way to waste your money or your hearing.

Number Juan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Moff, does it sound as good from a passer-by as it does to the pilot? i dont think theres anything more scarier (in a good way) or better than the sound of a powerful motorbike being given some stick...

Hi.

It's me Moffat logged onto to AJ's computa. No it really is.

The bike went great on the trek down to Sydney today. I was only passed by two vehicles in 600 klms. Both driven by women, both doing 140 plus down the Pacific Highway (inappropriately bamed or what?).

It sounds really horn (in the words of Robbie Phillis) when getting amongst it.

AJ has some photos to post so I'll leave it to him...
