AJ to Forsythe - Indy Star

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dl...606130403/1052

Quote:

Champ Car World Series driver A.J. Allmendinger apparently isn't going to be unemployed for long.

Released last week by RuSport team owner Carl Russo in favor of 2002 series champion Cristiano da Matta, Allmendinger is headed to Forsythe Racing as the replacement for Mario Dominguez, who was let go Monday by owner Jerry Forsythe.

Allmendinger, a 24-year-old American, is expected to be in this weekend's race at Portland, Ore., as a teammate to Paul Tracy. The move will become official when Allmendinger signs a contract.

That article is hardly confirmation - it's the same kind of speculation we're dishing out here.

Sounds a bit more like, he's agreed to drive, just the signature isn't on paper. More than speculation, not quite official, but in either case.. no suprise to anyone.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Allmendinger can do behind the wheel of one of the Forsythe cars.

I could have sworn I heard Robin Miller on Wind Tunnel say that the empty seat at Dale Coyne may go to RHR - which would leave Mario as the odd man out.

This may happen if you drive for Mr. Forsythe and take out Paul Tracy twice in 4 weeks.

No doubt the Amigos will pay Rocketsports to put Dominguez in their second car, at least for the Mexican rounds.

I've already read a few posts from Mexico at different forums howling about no Mexicans in the series now. Mario to Coyne? I doubt he's take that one.

I think he could. Servia showed that the ride isnt a dead end. Not sure what other offers Mario's got, a DCR ride I think is a not a bad move for him at the moment.

If he really wants to stay in Champ Car he'd take that Coyne ride. Then again, he might do a Jourdain and disappear entirely from the open-wheel radar...

OK Now its time for one of the most stupid questions you could possibly hear

We have been watching AJ in Champcars the for the last 2 years or so and we all admit the guy is a great talent.

But it is only now that the question has popped into my head.

In his name what do the initials "AJ" stand for ?

Anyone know what the REAL reason was for Russo to let him go ?
AJ had quite the week. I feel kinda sorry for him; the pressure in Cleveland will be unbearable.

From what i've seen after today's first quals session at Cleveland, it looks like AJ is in a great place to be, whereas da matta and Dominguez are not going anywhere thus far...

I know that it is "very" early to assess such things....like lest than two weeks since musical chairs began...

But it sure doesn't seem to be a problem for AJ....the young man has been very fast....and he was more than competitive with RuSport....
