RaceTime should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sandown Race 2 Safety Car & Other Stats

Race Two's safety car periods - just a couple...

Total of 5 seperate safety car periods covering 29 laps or 30.2% of total race distance for a period of 57 mins 45 secs.

#1 From lap 23 to 30 - 8 laps 13 min 50 sec
#2 From lap 32 to 36 - 5 laps 10 min 25 sec
#3 From lap 45 to 40 - 6 laps 11 min 00 sec
#4 From lap 52 to 47 - 6 laps 12 min 50 sec
#5 From lap 62 to 65 - 4 laps 9 min 40 sec

Race Leaders:

8 different race leaders with 6 different drivers:

#1 Murphy From lap 1 to 3 - 3 laps
#2 Ambrose From lap 4 to 18 - 15 laps
#3 Murphy From lap 19 to 21 - 3 laps
#4 Kelly From lap 22 to 30 - 9 laps
#5 Jones From lap 31 to 37 - 7 laps
#6 Bargwanna From lap 38 to 46 - 9 laps
#7 Tander From lap 47 to 51 - 5 laps
#8 Ambrose From lap 52 to 96 - 45 laps

Margin of victory - 7.5344 secs

11 Fastest laps set during the race with David Besnard finally being the quickest out there with a 1:12.0606 which is approx 0.6 secs slower than the lap record held by Craig Lowndes in a Commodore VT,

Interestingly, if you view the results in fastest time order, apart from Besnard, they are, within 1/1000ths, the same order as the race results based on elapsed time and laps completed.

You mean the alfa SPORTS SEdan? So what? It is over 3 seconds slower than the outright lap record and 14 seconds slower than the outright lap record on the short circuit at Winton.

The relationship being????

the point i make is just a line of v8 supercars are not the fastest cars out there. People seem to forget that. Well they do over here. They dont understand the alfa and the veskanda or a ralt rt4 for that matter.

I never saw formula 5000's race the greatest series ever race here as in national championship and i never got to see the group c race. Bellof on a quick lap at sandown would of been magic.

You forget one thing though - you cannot compare V8's to sports sedans, F3's, F3000 or even sports cars - they are all TOTALLY DIFFERENT CARS.

So regardless of how you look at it you cannot compare Besnards time to anyone else other than a V8 Soupcar.

As for the Alfa's time - if you really want to put that into perspective it is still not as quick as the Edmonson times that were set back in 1985...in a sports sedan!

Bellof at Sandown was, in all honest, just another car on a very quick line - in qualifying he was rarely with anyone else and, in a race, the entire field was travelling just as quick - so he didn't really stand out.
