This photo is from a tune-up race at Summit Point near Winchester Virginia. Trans Am ran races at this track during the Paul Newman days. Marybeth Harrison unofficially broke the track record during her practice run. It was the first time for her in this car. The team was preparing the car for their upcoming Trans Am debut race at Mosport. It is the yellow car with the Glacier Bear on the hood.

I know....this is blatant promotion of driver Marybeth Harrison and I promise that no more photos will be posted.
BTW, her best Trans am race was at Laguna Seca where she finished in 13th place in a field of 34 cars. |

www.racerchicks.com If it's blatant promotion you want, why not go all the way: www.marybeth-harrison.com (how about updating that once in a while, though - June 2001 was a long time ago ) |

My son & his wife are team owners of Glacier Bear Racing and I am the (unpaid & unsuccessful)) marketing manager. Yes, Marybeth is a personal friend, great driver, and wonderful person. I would love to see her get a chance to run Trans Am for a whole season with a sponsor on-board.

Do the Glacier Bears have a web site, too? I haven't found anything.

I think you are also trying to say the team is run without any major sponsership, unless Glacier Bear is the sponser ?

The team ran 4 races in Trans Am in season 2000 without sponsorship. The timing for entering racing was not very good as that was when the bottom started to fall out of the stock market and Companies were cutting back on sponsorship dollars, not adding new sponsorships.
Marybeth kept her website up to date until awhile back. check out the "Team and Car" icon on her site to get soecific info on the car and team. |

She is currently "General Manager" of an "arrive and drive" racing program where they race at premier tracks such as Sears Point, Laguna Seca, etc. She also drives occasionally in the program.
However, she is pleading with me to please, please find a sponsor so that she can race full time in a series such as TA. Check out her website and read her description of the Road America race and it will become obvious how much she loves racing. http://www.marybeth-harrison.com/ |

Incidentally, where's MaxSport when you need him, he is in the sponsorship procuring business, this should be right up his, ahem, alley. |

I really did not intend for this to be an advertisement as has been implied. If it comes across that way, please, by all means remove the thread.

Some stats on the car.
Car: The last of seven Camaros to come off the Pratt & Miller assembly line. The 310 ci CRD engine produces over 640 horsepower reaching top speeds of 180 mph. The car will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.10 seconds, 0 to 140 mph in 11.5 seconds and will post 1/4-mile times of approximately 10.8 seconds at 136 mph. Trouble is - as god as message boards are for raising awareness, they are not that good at raising cash.
Have you posted this just here, or elsewhere as well? (with all due respect to 10/10s, there may be more TransAm-conscious boards around) |

cybersdorf....Actually I am not pursuing sponsorship on this board. The posts and photos are just for fun in the hope that some of you enjoy them. I have a formal program and info pkg that I use in the pursuit of sponsorship. I make about 400 tel calls a month to prospective sponsors and out of that about 15 to 20 mailings of info. As I mentioned previously, this is a terrible time for hunting sponsors due to the state of the economy.
I believe in our driver and team or I would have given up about a year ago. We could be a top 10 team the 1st full year on the circuit. However, as you know, opportunity means everything. |

At this point we would consider almost any form of "road racing". No, we havent posted team info anywhere else. You arent as broke as we are.

Just curious: have you done a TA race under the new mandatory pit stop regs yet? Makes things even more expensive, doesn't it.
