federico leo will be the third driver for ram racing in gtpro class. Speaking back about Z4 lack of speed, well, last year vantage barely was able to hit 285km/h against porsche and ferrari that were able easily to run over 290km/h without draft. Useless to remark that both vantage #97 and #99 were the fastest on track and AMR didn't win at le mans because of unlucky situations. Z4 with a well developed low drag bodykit will be very competitive at le mans! truth is that BMW simply doesn't give a f**k.

I thought the issue with the Z4 was that it is not available as a road car with a V8 and so the ACO would not allow the V8 race car to compete. It gets a waiver for ALMS/TUSC. Am I mistaken?

ACO modified engine rules in 2013 to let viper and bmw to run at le mans, now the rule tells that a car can be powered by a motor used in an other car model produced by the same manufacturer company. Last year the Z4 GTE appeared in the ACO GT bop sheet, so it's up only to bmw motorsport.

Thanks. What a silly rule. I always thought the GT1 Nissan GTR was a bit of a con with a NA V8 rather than a turbo V6. I'm not a fan of this sort of thing.

One has to wonder why no other manufacturer has done the BMW trick recently, ie basically just turn up with your GT3, make few very cosmetic 'modifications' and slap GTE logo on side of it. We all know ACO doesn't care of 'rules' in GT racing anymore - and FIA most certainly doesn't - plus everything gets balanced again and again and again and again anyway so there is no real setback. Of course the GT/GT+ concept is close (of continuing the same idiocy?) but this is easy chance to get your existing model to the biggest motor race in the world without much effort.

You know I hate GT3, but with GTE now being GT3 with no difference whatsoever I would actually prefer to have GT3 instead. Because 10-15 heavily performance balanced models sounds better than 4 heavily performance balanced models. Same-ish speed, same-ish look, same-ish sound, same constant BoP crap, same lack of rules (one never had any and one had but they mean absolutely nothing now)... but other one has more models. And they don't have to keep secret memos of waiver lists because manufacturers demanded so

well, only bmw required a new rule to run in GTE with a 4.4 V8 powered Z4. Other manufacturers did not need of a new/different engine. SRT simply has no other choice to use the 8.0 V10, even is over the 5.5 limit... but here again, why to respect a rule when even ACO/FIA doesn't?
Anyway hope in future to see the Z4 GTE used also in WEC even if only in backed private team hands like MVDS if schnitzer team will keep of focusing only in DTM.

So I assume they are already BoP-testing these cars at France? 'Cause Dagys said they would be balancing them for four days during the 'last week of May', and they'd have to start early in the week so that they'd be done before Test Day (which will - I'd presume - serve as the fifth BoP day, just on different circuit...)

edit: or are they already done? re-read the article and it said
The BoP test will occur the week before the Le Mans Test Day, giving the Endurance Committee time to finalize the car’s configurations ahead of the single-day test on June 1.

But if it was last week it cannot be the last week of May... ... whatever. Lottery machine rolls nevertheles.

Sounds like mr Miyatani has not seen what BMW did with their GT3... I mean GTE Z4. Or he's been reading GT2 rulebook from five years ago when there still were rules

C7.R has not received any adjustments at all from the ACO yet so the only values we can compare the new BoP with come from the USCC specs

Aston Martin begging for yet another fuel BoP break, who would've guessed if they were to gain another 5 liter that would mean they'd have 15 more liters than 458 and C7.R!
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/114255

Also "Ferrari has been allowed to introduce a new version of its Le Mans aero package for this year, despite the rules freeze that covers the 2014 season" sounds like another waiver

The article says Corvette has larger air restrictor than C6.R but they read the BoP changes incorectly, it's +1,3mm from the baseline, not from the BoPped value

Where do you find the BoP sheet?

It's not on the FIA endurance committee decision page yet for some reason, but while waiting
http://www.fiawec.com/en/news/24h-du...ance_2072.html

But Aston are whining for extra fuel on top of their fuel BoP break described there. It will be ridiculous if ACO grants them even further capacity (though not surprising), the figures would look like petrol-diesel balancing compared to Corvette and Ferrari!

My bad. Re-read the article and Gaw actually said they would not have had chance without the 5 litre BoP break (yeah right), not additional on top of that.

But I think their test day pace still shows they're begging for something.

The article indeed only speaks of a 5 liter tank increase for the AM V8 Vantage's.

The question is though is this another 5 litres theyve been gifted or the original 5 litre increase?

95liters for Vantage vs. 90liters Porsche vs. 85liters Vette and Ferrari.

Porsche gets refuelling break for LM
http://www.fia.com/sites/default/fil...adjustment.pdf

Quote:
Considering that LMGTE cars with the fuel tank at the front need a longer fuel hose at Le Mans and in order to permit the same refuelling time for all LMGTE cars, refuelling tests have been carried out.

Following these tests the diameter “D” of the fuel flow restrictor and the minimum length of the fuel hose described in appendix 2 of 2014 LMGTE Technical Regulations are adapted as follows (only for Le Mans and for LMGTE with the fuel tank at the front):

ยท
Diameter : 30.5 mm
Minimum length of the fuel hose : 480 cm

Just as I predicted, there's been re-BoPping again after Test Day

All models: +5 liters fuel
Porsche 997 GT3 RSR -20kg & 10mm adj on 2012 model's gurney
(+ fuel stop adjustment for Porsches as mentioned on previous post)

So recap, in 3 races time:

(Pre-season testing done via 2013 final BoP values)
Adjustments 1) Prior Silverstone
Adjustments 2) Prior Spa
Adjustments 3) Prior Test Day
Adjustments 4) Prior Le Mans
for just three makes + Corvette for round 3

Yeah, you can be proud Vincent, real racing isn't it...
