Did not expect that, but what a close top of the field!

I think the first pair of blisters on the roof have the same function like the handle bars on the Dome. They hold the car in the required minimum height of the second roll bar and allow the engine cover falling down a bit steeper for improved airflow towards the rear wing. The second pair on the engine cover are needed to create space for some parts on the engine/gearbox unit.

Great day for the Toyota Team. A shame for Audi but nothing can be taken away from Toyota's win. Best prototype racing I have seen in a long time and it will only get better.

Well done Toyota! Seem to have struck a good balance between downforce and top speed compared to Porsche/Audi. The hybrid system was immense in traffic.

Fantastic start to the season - certainly the Audi mess-ups take nothing away from a dominant 1-2 by Toyota.

Toyotas looking extremely strong this year. Sounds like 4WD and big displacement was the right way to go.

Bit random but how do you say TS040?
In my mind it's TS0-4-0 literally spelling out the digits but I swear Hindaugh was calling it the TS-forty. |

I've always said/thought of it as tee-ehss-oh-fourty, in the same vein as tee-ehss-oh-thirty and tee-ehss-oh-ten.

I'm like you - for me it's a TS 0-4-0, which put that way does make it sound a little locomotive - but hey, today it went like a train so maybe that's the point.

29 laps in a stint, even 30 on one, and only 2 tenths off the fastest lap! They have plenty to be excited about. Spa should be a great track to showcase their hybrid power with 3 big braking zones and the long straights. Porsche will be tough if they keep the top speed advantage, but I think Toyota has to be looked at as more serious a threat this year than previously.

The Toyota isn't the best looking prototype out there but it has shown to be fast and reliable, both things you need at Le Mans to be succesfull.

It's a surprise that Toyota won at Silverstone, and a dominating effort too.
I'm hoping that they could win in Le Mans with that performance 'cause they need it! |

I must admit that I wasn't surprised. We seem to expect Audi to win, I suppose because they generally do. Well maybe their dominance really is coming to an end - for 2014, anyway......

Well, it was only the first race.
Look at how the first F1 race was, compared to current races |

I remember looking at the teaser videos a couple months back and catching those rear wing mounts. Im glad theyre still there! I like that solution the best of the current lmp1's. And the front nosecone section does look simpler. Maybe lower drag on the front end instead of maximising the front wing? Glad all three cars are different. Now awaiting Rebellion's car!

I think it was Sam Collins who mentioned this on RLM, but the Toyota apparently doesn't have a adjustable front wing like Porsche and Audi. Not sure f he's correct but it's certainly interesting if it is.

I don't believe that Porsche have any adjustable front wing element either.

Porsche supposedly has one, at least in early testing--the hinge like things (like what the Audi has) would be the give away.
With Toyota, we can't tell, not unless someone has taken a photo of the nose from behind or under the nose to see what type of front diffuser they have. There's so much shrouding on the nose that we can't tell, as well as the slot gap between the diffuser and the bodywork being so small. We might not be able to see what diffuser Toyota is using unless they have an off and the nose comes off or someone sneaks a photo of the nose assembly from behind or underneath. |

Well this discussion point is moot to say the least... why the heck! the need for an "adjustable" front wing ?
If it is dynamic, that is, the profile changes dynamically during race, if corner or braking or straight, then adjustable has meaning. But this is not allowed, they talk about something like that but for the rear wing for 2015. If its static, then the "adjustable" has no real meaning... the all front section that incorporates the front wing is easily replaceable ( just replace the front section for a different setup), you can have only one fixed setup even if you can adjust it without replacing the all front section... how many times can you go wrong and adjust it ? ... no real meaning! |
